But Gose are awesome. And so are Berliners.

What a child. I'm sorry you don't like the style. Ritterguts is delicious.

Breaking Bad was one of the best TV series of all time, but viewers really didn't start tuning in en masse until Season 4.

Same argument can be applied to Gose.

Joe K. doesn't seem to know that treacle is molasses; and I've never found lambics to have a molasses-like quality. Maybe there's some quality to treacle or molasses (say, cloying sweetness) that he finds in lambics. Is he just drinking the Lindemans versions?

Pretty annoying clickbait kind of article. "Here I don't like this beer so nobody really likes it. It's just trendy." It's not different than him not liking many IPAs or lambics like he said.

While Gose is not my favorite beer it has a place. Its a good beer for hydrating especially after a long bike ride on a hot day or after working in the garden - to me it tastes a lot better than Gatorade. I find it refreshing but not a fast drinking beer. It works fine for spending an afternoon out on a deck with a book and a few hours to kill.

With an interest in history, I enjoy it when someone resurrects a lost style and I appreciate the opportunity to try it. I hope we will see more lost style entering the market over the next few years.

I don't think craft beer is dead at all but Keohane writes an interesting article. Craft brewers have and will continue to hone their craft and come up with new interpretations of classic styles, combinations of styles and the occasional off the wall beer. We may see the erosion of styles but craft beer will be around for a while.

Why does it matter when or why something gets more popular? I imagine it has a bit to do with the availability of the style. It's not like Goses were always sitting on the shelf a few years ago.

I am fan of Gose beers but I suppose this style is not for everybody.

    Cheers!

"We’re 20 or 25 years into the Golden Age of Beer. If Gose was that worthy of so much excitement and attention from America’s world-class brewers and drinkers, we simply would have gotten to it by now."

Or maybe peoples' palates have been slowly but steadily evolving and we weren't ready for something like Gose 20-25 years ago. I'm sick of all these blog-esque "articles" coming from Thrillist.

Would have worked better as an article without the clickbait headline. Granted not sure why someone spends so much time talking about what they hate instead of spending that time enjoying what they love.

Yeah, because only beer with a high alcohol content is worthwhile right? What a tool.

Gose and "session" beers has been around for centuries, far longer than the current craft beer movement.

As usual, Thrillist shows itself as the clickbait troll site that it is.

Its always easier to knock things you hate rather than praise something.

I agree in some ways that if I was craving a beer at the end of the day, a gose would never quench that craving. But I like it for what it is and enjoy it from time to time.

And it gets views. I mean it got us all reading it and talking about it already. If it was about him loving a style, I'm sure many more people would have just glanced at the title and said "okay".

Sure Gose is not for everybody, that doesn't mean we're at the end of creativity in beer. Oh wait, it's Thrillist...

Well, saying (in an implied negative way) that they are low ABV and so "won't get you sauced" pretty much sums up the tone of the whole article for me.

You know the Charlie Brown Halloween episode where he gets a rock? I feel like that every time I get Westbrook Gose as a trade extra.

My local beer columnist showed some his traffic data from the past year or so. Hate-filled rantpieces scored roughly 100 times as many clicks and shares as any of his positive/neutral pieces. All you have to do to drive traffic to your site is ... roughly what Thrillist dude did here.
