We have IBU; we also need ISU

    I wish I had saved/stolen some of those ph testing strips from high school chemistry. I could have done a great public service distributing them to sour beer lovers. But then again, it's been many many moons since high school so they'd probably be useless by this time.

    That made me imagine a sour beer lover opening a bottle, sticking a pH strip in and then drain-pouring the beer without trying it because it wasn't sour enough for them. Then running off to write a review on BA, of course. :rolling_eyes:

    I think we can take this time to ask ourselves "what good has come from the practice of listing IBU's on the label?" My answer: Very little good, and a lot of bad.

    It's worth noting that pH is a logorithmic scale, meaning that something with a pH of 3 is 10 times more acidic than something with a pH of 4 and 100 times more acidic than 5 (which is just below the acidity of wort.)
