Hopslam Limits??

Good novelty beer IMO, nothing more. Was over it 3 years ago. It's like if Nyquil made a Hoppy Beer. No offense to people who are still riding this shit wagon. Plenty of better, cheaper, readily available and year round Double IPA's here and close by at The Nova.

 

A shop near me tweeted yesterday that they held some Hopslam back, and are now offering it at a single sixer limit as long as you buy 2 other Bells products. Meanwhile 15 minutes down the road, most places have stacks of cases with no limit and no coercion.

 

That's just plain stupid no matter what beer it is.

Wow, that's pretty harsh... I'd be the first to say there are better dipas, but not sure i'd go that extreme. Just curious, Do you normally troll threads on release availability discussions just to let people know you personally don't like the beer?

Wow! You do know that MGM's are franchised and independently operated don't you? The MGM I shop certainly doesn't pull this shit and they definitely didn't for hopslam.

HA! oh man... well I will chalk it up to @SwinginParty and I having *slightly* different opinions. Just seemed odd to go into a thread titled Hopslam Limits to just post how crappy it is. Not trying to start a flame war or anything.

 

Not as odd as his 1* rating on BCBS. It seems he doesn't like the idea of highly sought after beers. I don't like the crap that surrounds them sometimes, but that doesn't change the fact that some like BCBS and Hopslam are pursued is because they are really good.

 

hence the reasoning why prices and deals are different from store to store and assumed it was them. saw a ton of high prices and required purchases with Darkness and it was all to do with MGM stores.


also, if anyone in the Minnetonka area is looking for Hopslam, about 12 cases on the floor at Haskells by Ridgedale.

 

I think you missed my point. Each MGM is managed separately. They are not all bad. By saying MGM is shitting is just plain wrong. Saying a certain MGM is shitty.....have at it.

There are good MGM's and so let's not paint with such a broad brush.

Also, saw a few tweets of CW BBBW hitting the shelves.

 

I've got 4 that I don't see myself finishing. I'll be out of town this weekend, but will be making the rounds next weekend. Buy me a couple of taps at Town Hall and they're yours.

 

Coborn's had it for 16.99, so about 18.25 after tax. Westside Liquor is crap, they hold beers like this, Breakfast stout and Blakkr (probably Abrasive too) in back at their flagship location with no intent of putting it on the shelf. And no signage saying they have it.

Hopslam's a good, hoppy as hell beer, one I think you gotta revisit every year, but I dunno man. I am sure we will do this again in a month with KBS, but I've yet to get a taste of that.

 

What Westside? I don't think this is really a problem though, you just have to ask, not a big deal. It probably helps keep it around a little longer. I have never had a problem at the Albertville location.

Went to the Bloomington TW- had "the last few packs available, limit 2, it's 10% and hoppy but not bitter, it's like drinking a wine" for $18.99 a pop. Someone came in and asked for "That new Bell's hop something".

Next door, at Trader Joe's, it's $15.99 a sixer for that hop something.

 

I guess I don't know which Westside liquor you're talking about, but last year at the Westside on the east side of St. Cloud Hopslam sat in the cooler for at least a month. I remember picking up some 2-3 weeks after it hit shelves at the west side Westside too

 

I just left it at 13.99. Enjoy!

 

I'm also curious, what flagship Westside Off Sale are we talking about? I shop often at the St. Cloud, Brainerd & Little Falls stores w/o ever having an issue. If I don't see something out front, I ask the beer folks & they always check in the back. More times than not, they have returned w/ the beer I asked for, but I'm certain they are not hoarding mass stashes of great beer.

Little Falls is/was the original Westside store, so if that is the "flagship store" being referred to, I can assure you, they are not "sitting" on a mountain of Breakfast stout, Blakkr, Abrasive, or any other hard to find beer. Although, there maybe plenty of Natty Light stacked in the back for all the diehard central MN ice fishermen & gals!!
