I haven't seen a thread on this yet, but would love to start getting impressions of the various IIIPAs at the hop mob events. I wasn't able to go to the kick off and can't make it to either the Naked City or Beveridge Place Pub events ... so I'm trying to figure out which ones I need to seek out.

I've had the Fremont Triple Trifecta and that was excellent. I plan on hitting Reuben's to get my Blimey fix. And I know the Stoup / Standard / Snipes were the judged winners at Brouwers (surprises there!).

Reviews? Favorites or ones to avoid?

The Blimey release was during my daughter's birthday party so I didn't make it, but a friend snagged me a bottle (apparently some will find it's way to retail this year). I had Birdserker at Black Raven on Saturday night, it was pretty good. Hoping to make it to Naked City tomorrow night.

Don't sleep on ZZZ Hop. Had that and Standard at Brouwer's. Hit Reuben's and Fremont on their own. (Drinking Fremont now.)

Blimey my fav. Haven't tasted most, obviously.

Edit: talked to Adam at Reuben's on Saturday. He feels he really has it dialed in. Triple dry-hopped and terminal gravity of 1006. Most triple IPAs are sweeter (1012).

Potentially dumb question: Did all these triple IPAs come out at the same time specifically for the Hop Mob thing or is it just that time of year?

they were all made specifically for this event. Except Old Schoolhouse. Their goofy asses just thought now was a good time to release a triple IPA on the same week as a triple IPA fest. Like they seriously had no idea.

i had 5 at brouwers last friday and picked up some blimey on saturday and tried their randall and cask version. i suggest snagging some bottles while they are around town, it's well worth the $10 price tag.

    1. snipes hayduke the wrencher knocked it out of the park. by far my favorite.
    2. blimey was excellent, and my second favorite. i didn't really care for the versions on cask and randall (blood orange and amarillo hops, IIRC).
    3. stoups t2r was a nice surprise, a huge improvement from their triple IPA last year
    4. old schoolhouse was a pleasant surprise as well. very well balanced and the high alcohol content was well-hidden.
    5. whiney on cask at brouwers tasted like bad homebrew :flushed:

Yeah, Winthrop is kinda isolated this time of year, they prolly had to send the beer over the pass by dogsled. They do a pretty great job in general, one of our "Hidden Gem" breweries.

Just my .02 and its worth less than that but I had Triple Trifecta at Fremont and loved it...then had Blimey the next day and thought "this might be better"...then i decided to get a Hop Venom to put next to the Blimey and all the sudden the Blimey tasted a bit skunky and out of balance...i ended up rating Triple Tri higher than Blimey but dont know what I would think with Triple Tri next to a beer like Hop Venom...also had the Stoup IIIPA and thought it was pretty good but not as good as either Blimey or Triple Tri...it was after a bunch of beers though and didnt have it side by side so tough to know for sure. All were good but my ranking would go:
    1. Triple Tri
    2. Blimey
    3. Stout IIIPA

ps. i know hop venom is a double...i was just trying to gauge the beer i was drinking with one of my favorite hoppy beers

PtY releases in February, so now it's basically a tradition for every other brewery to release a TIPA at the same time to prove they are better.

Sound is a little late to the party, but I see they just tapped their first ever IIIPA.

I didn't try them all, but my favorite was the Iron Goat and Ninkasi collaboration. Snipes Mountain was also very good.

If you didn't try Georgetown's version, you missed out big time.

    Has georgetown always bottled?

I've also heard the Pfriem IIIPA is incredible. I see it's on tap now at Mammoth and probably has been / will be on tap elsewhere soon.

That's the first Georgetown bottle I've ever seen. Maybe they've done some small batch stuff before?

I never realized they bottled some until I went there for the open house. They had a BBA Brown Ale that they were pouring from bottles.
