Hey guys, driving up the coast from Socal next Friday and will have a night to check out SARA. Looks like they close at 8pm and don't serve food, does anyone have other food and craft beer suggestions nearby?

I'll be staying in Capitola but I'm good with a short taxi/uber ride.

I'm going there Sunday for the first time and am planning to hit up Aptos, Beer Thirty, lupulo, 99 Bottles, & Burger. Cheers!

I was fortunate enough to eat at this place in Dec. before going to SARA (also on another BAs recommendation). I highly recommend it. You cannot go wrong with the Tri-tip sandwich. It was delicious!!!!
I suggest filling up here (food only) and then head over to SARA for some great beers (and don't forget to take a bottle to share there)

Can you bring food to SARA? I am going this Saturday on my way up to San Francisco and wanted to plan accordingly.

Instead of start a new thread, thought I'd piggyback on this one. Anyone know a spot with good prices on Almanac bottles near SARA? My whole foods down here was limit 1 for Blueberry and Valley of the Hearts.

AJ's Market on the other side of the highway from SARA usually has Almanac and is competitively priced.

Burger is awesome in Santa Cruz, Luplo(not sure on spelling) is also good. The also have sea right brewery, Santa Cruz ale works, Santa Cruz mountain brewery also uncommon brewery. Santa Cruz is a great place to drink craft beer.

Also not to threadjack but for anyone who has had both I see a darkness and I see a tartness, are they THAT much different? Because I'm obsessed with that little cold pressed honeypot

I also hear that there a new brewery only a few minutes away from Sara not sure of the name though.

Thanks everyone. I'll likely pick up Aptos BBq and bring to SARA. Also there is a new(?) Brewery Discretion brewing up there I might check out.

One is tart and the other isn't, so yeah, I'd say they're pretty different.

I think that was my main question. Is it really that tart? And does it become a totally different beer, a la tart of darkness. The main thing I liked about darkness was the huge coffee and honey aromas, are those still present?

Haven't had Tartness in a while but my short answer would be yes. I love Darkness as well. One of my non-tart SARA favorites.

I was going to bring up the rarely-mentioned Discretion Brewing right up the street from SARA - it's a cool place with a nice atmosphere and vibe, really good food (mostly snacky, lighter fare, not really meal-type stuff but delicious imo) and the beers aren't so bad either.

Skip Discretion, really. Go to Corralitos Brewing, brand spanking new, but fantastic beer, 10 on tap...

Just a few minutes from SARA and APTOSBBQ

You should go to Corralitos Market for some food, can't beat it, if you eat meat…..
