Several years ago I watched the documentary "Beer Wars." I must admit it had a profound effect on me as a beer consumer and basically opened my consciousness to craft beers and the struggles they needlessly face from the BMC's of the industry. Since watching the movie, I will not purchase a macro. That's the only power I have as a consumer. I'm usually a "who cares" kind of guy when it comes to making purchases, but this documentary had an impact on me.
Was anybody else affected by this movie?

I've been affected only in the sense that all my beer lovin' buddies have been bugging me to see it.

To be honest, I drink 99% craft beer. Budweiser and such means nothing to me. Nobody is forcing me to drink them. Even most grocery stores and gas stations have at least a few craft options.

I'm not saying I like Budweiser and Miller and all of them, I honestly just don't even think about them because I don't have to.

Have not seen the movie but have heard many small breweries are already owned or heavily influenced($$$) by Anheuser, not just the highly publicized goose island, 10 barrel, or elysian deals

It was long enough ago that I can't remember specifics, but I remember it ranking high as one of the worst, over dramatic, whiny things I'd seen labeled as a documentary. So in that sense, no, it did not affect me at all. Just my take.

When I go out to drink, or go to a store to buy beer, I always use the "Fantasy Football" guide to drafting and take the best available.

Sometimes I am screwed no matter what...

I saw this several years ago when I was relatively new to the craft beer revolution. In my fervor i was against everything macro. I'd even poke fun people drinking the fizzy yellow water. As of late though I've mellowed a bit and have a more open mind about it. The movie focuses a lot of the behind the scenes struggles of craft brewers and of course the big bad corporations they are competing against. I find it comical reading ranting and raving about big beer and why you should drink them. I've found this particularly annoying and negative I've decided not to worry about what other people are drinking and who owns the beer I drink. I worry about the stuff that's poured in my glass, period. If it sucks I don't drink it. If it's good I want more. Even if it's made by a big beer company.
