Hopefully it's open to more then just Ontario people. Because the trade forum for Canada on BA is a little rudimentary and not viewed enough to be worth the time and effort...
If you want to trade with people in Ontario.......I don't see issues with posting an FT:ISO thread. However, it is for Ontario trades by the looks of it. Which makes sense........it would get too cluttered with the entire country IMO.
To be specific it's for FT:ISO (In-person) trades: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/forums/iso-ft-in-person.65/ We might benefit from having our own Canada specific trade forum just so our postings do not get lost amongst the many traders that are primarily looking at trading in the U.S only. If the U.S traders are looking at doing a cross border trade they could post in that Canada specific forum.
I tried to post the ISO:FT (In-person) link but it does not show. Go to the ISO:FT (In-person) section, scroll to the bottom and you can change the pre-fix to a region, being Canada.
Ah, the in-person, yeah it's pretty dead. I thought maybe I'd missed a new beer trading forum specifically for us Canadians, wishful thinking I suppose.
A few of us tried to get the mods to add either a regional qualifier in the standard ISO:FT (like in the IP section) or to simply have a page dedicated to Canadian trades but it never came to anything. Here is the thread.
Yeah saw that thread. Lot's of good ideas but unfortunately it never went anywhere. I think if there were two sub-forums like ISO:FT (beer only) U.S and ISO:FT (beer only) International, that would be better. Pretty much 98% of the trades would be in the ISO:FT (beer only) U.S sub-forum and the rest would be in the ISO:FT (beer only) International sub-forum. Each post would also have to mention if it was open to an international trade or just domestic, pre-fixes might be required for this. I would think that most trades in that ISO:FT (beer only) International would be Canadian/domestic trades. This would also give the opportunity to American traders to post to Canadian Traders.
Seeing as about half the members of that group are from outside ontario, why not make it a Canadian ISO:FT?
There is a Quebec page and it works really well because it's regional. I am going to Quebec in two weeks so I joined and set up a bunch of trades while I will be in Quebec. If I join an Ontario trading group I don't want to see a bunch of posts from BC, Quebec, Sask, etc because it just creates clutter IMO. I think it is better to have regional trading groups since the majority of these trades will probably end up being IP trades.
If you have something you want to trade and are willing to ship to Ontario.....then post and FT:ISO in the Ontario forum.
This. I joined as well as the Canadian trading here on BA is a bit tough. Thankfully i have my regulars
Yeah, I started that group. Could be promising, feel free to join in it even if you're not from Ontario, but seeking Ontario beers, or Ontario-distributed beers, or stuff accessible nearby (Vermont, NY, Michigan, etc).
