Winking Lizard Barrel Aged Beer Fest

I am a big fan of WL because they are usually really good at what they do. This is not an example of their typical behavior in my opinion, which is a little disappointing.

I can't believe what I'm reading

 

All I know is I wish Winking Lizard did 1/2 of the sweet beer events they do in Cleveland in Columbus. I'm always super envious reading what Cleveland gets as far as beer events and releases.

 

Someone above said all these could be found on shelves...at least 2 of them are variants:
BBQ
BA Siberian Night <--aged in winking lizard select Woodford Reserve barrels
Siren Noire
Abyss
Dragons Milk<--coffee variant, don't think it's common
BA Brick Kiln
Backwoods Bastard

 

FOBAB never announces their list. As in literally NEVER - you get a piece of paper with the beers on it when you walk in.

 

Love Lizardville, but glad I didn't pay for this. I know...I'm a negative nancy. The list just doesn't jump off the page for me.

 

Uh huh...difference between the BA Siberian and the WL BA Siberian? Oh that's right a tick on untappd...cool. The Dragons Milk?? That's laughable. Enjoy the overhyped show...cheers!!

 

Then it was the breweries putting out info on what they were bringing...I knew a good deal of the beers going to be there before I went last year because my friends and I were making lists on what we had planned to hit first. WL couldn't even provide a full list of breweries going to be there prior to the fest.

It just seems like amateur hour to me to not be able to organize a beer festival with only 22 kegs. I get it it's not the popular stance because WL can do no wrong to most on here. I think they do a lot of positive things for the craft community but also a few things here and there that leave me scratching my head and this is one of them.

Look at the list Winter Warmer has posted already and it's over two weeks away...they must be working overtime over there!!!

I don't understand how a business doesn't owe it to there customers to explain what they are providing for our dollars.

 

For a second there I had to recheck the title of this thread. I thought it was a BA Blackout release party thread. I'm beginning to think people in this town just don't like beer events.

 

Sure, hardcore beer nerds hold their nose at the thought of drinking JO's BA Brick Kiln or Backwoods Bastard. I get that. Founders kind of "mailed it in" so to speak. Fair enough. Weizenbock's don't get people excited. Got it.

I'm just not convinced that popping kegs of Cantillon, Silva Stout, Avery Obscuro and Bourbon County Barleywine is something to legitimately complain about. Particularly in Ohio. I'm also not convinced Barrel Aged Bitches Brew even exists until I see the keg!! I look at most beer lists and usually less than 20% are something I'm really interested in trying. Same is probably true with this event, but whatever. Beer events have to offer something for everybody. 22 kegs, ~10 different styles.

I hope they do an IPA fest...the melts would be incredible. Cheers y'all!

 

No one likes beer events. They just go to pad their untappd stats!

 

Pretty sure the Bodhi event for Cle beer week was thought to be one of the best events by many...so bring on the IPA fest! As long as Founders doesn't bring All Day

 

I'm going to blame all the hate on the winter blues! Honestly though, my only gripe is how they waited so long to release the list. That paired with this extreme weather and me being a west sider makes it a little more of a toss up. It's just a few things that add up to be a little annoying to me, that's all. I'm sure I'll have a great time.

 

In all seriousness (and I don't know if you can even reveal), reports over what? All that happened was a friendly debate over a taplist. I didn't read anything worth reporting. If people are filing complaints because we have differing opinions over what is worth and not worth our money, that is pretty low.
