Good beer in unexpected places

I have found Lagunitas sucks in Winslow AZ before! Yes the famous standing on the corner song. Now if you have never been to Winslow, I'm not sure why someone would right a song about it. You could do everything there's to in Winslow in about 2 hours lol.

Found some Lazy Magnolia Timberbeast at a gas station, the checker had no idea what it was, he was a gentlemen from Pakistan and had no idea he even carried that he had it priced low for such a great beer. I bought 3 four packs great stuff.

 

A somewhat local Piggly Wiggly that I went to recently had one hell of a selection, plus a growler fill station set up in the middle of the store. Mind = blown.

 

Some Firestone seasonals like Parabola at area gas stations.

 

Deschutes Fresh Squeezed at a dinky corner pizza store in West Chester, PA.

 

I honestly don't know whether it's good since I haven't tried it but it's definitely not something you'd expect. Saw a 4 pck. of Gulden Draak in a Lidl in Luxemburg, today. I was also surprised to see Firestone Walker and Boon in coolers at Globus.

I found this in a martini bar in DC thinking I would be stuck drinking Goose martinis all night, lol.

 

16 oz pour of BCBS at a small pizza joint in Superior, WI.

 

And like a martini, it definitely had a kick to it. Great beer, great er... journalist, great brewery.

 

3 Floyds Pride & Joy at a gas station for 8.99 a sixer....same situation as mentioned earlier the dude working there had no idea what it was. Though i'm not sure i would call it a "good" beer.

When Lagunitas NightTime was selling out everywhere, I found a gas station with 20 bottles. $3.99 each. Done.

 

Was the cap tampered with?! (Read amazed sarcasm)

 

A couple of years ago I took my kids to a birthday party at one of those sports bounce/trampoline places. Really loud, lots of video games and screaming kids...I get a headache just thinking about it.

But wouldn't you know they served beer. Now I was thinking they just would have macros, but no, they actually had Starr Hill Northern Lights IPA.

Northern Lights is a pretty mediocre IPA. But on that day, it tasted world class.

 

I was at a Price Cutter in Joplin, MO about 3 weeks ago and they had 4-packs of New Holland Dragon's Milk--I thought that was pretty bizarre since the big liquor store in town didn't.

 

A gas station in a small college town about twenty minutes away had Bell's Hopslam in their cooler. Unfortunately they new how to price it!
