Stopped by Avery today for UJ and there was barely anyone there due to the snow. I have a feeling a lot of UJ is going to hit local stores, much more than past years. They also had bottles of Einzigartig and Antonius' Carmen.

Now the interesting part: an employee informed me that they'd be filling growlers starting tomorrow. They also have some very cool metal Avery branded growlers for purchase. Awesome!

I asked too and supposedly they are going to do a C02 purge before filling. I'd ask again on that one because she didn't sound 100% on that. The machine had 30 switches, one for each tap. So it looks like they simply flip a switch and and it fills it automatically.
The growler they had in there today did look like a hydroflask.

Is it one of those Alfred-Gruber? Like they have at Victory or Fort Collins Brewery.

There was a sign posted saying growlers start tomorrow. $23 for Lilikoi sounds great to me!

It's gonna be like $115 for a 64oz growler of Tweak!

Whenever I eventually get my car back I think we're headed up there. Now that I know they do fills, I'll definitely be bringing a couple growlers.
In terms of UJ - while that very first batch disappeared quickly, the others have been somewhat plentiful at retail...which is awesome. It might not be cheapest, but it's a top tier BA stout you can buy all over town. Between 2009 and now there haven't been many of those.

Those growlers are awesome! How much does the smaller(left) one cost? Is that a 32 ouncer?

They both look like 64 oz. I believe the left one is not insulated.

DAMN! While I get the hike for some of the beers (Tweak, Pump[KY]n, etc) $18 for a growler of something you can get in a 6 pack?!? YIKES. Sure hope this price hike goes away. Then again maybe the prices are in hopes people enjoy the beer on site and don't want to bring growlers home every weekend. IDK

I agree with this logic. The zany one-offs are the fun about going to the taproom. I see this as Avery making sure they're always on tap but giving you the option to take it home if you REALLY gotta have it. Prices are definitely on the high side though.

I can't argue with that Lilikoi price at about $5 per 12oz. though. Only way to take it home at the moment...

Those prices are abusive and, dangerously, they are going to look a lot more reasonable when sitting in the taproom with a nice buzz going on.

Would be nice if they had a Howler option. Or crowler.

Can anyone tell me if their tap room in boulder is still running. I am visiting next month. Or is the only taproom going to be in gunbarrel? Thanks

Wow. The special releases are marked up a bit...but aren't the worst I've seen. But WTF is with the normal beers? Those are a 30-40% mark-up on what the same beers cost in bottles/cans. You know, those containers you don't have to drink in a week. Hopefully they'll realize that when nobody fills anything but specialty beers.
