Honestly I'd stay away from Cascade and go for something like Tilquin Gueuze instead. Cascade could turn you off sours for good as it's pretty far over on the lactic/acidic spectrum.

I don't love them, nor do I seek them out.

And the one Gose I've had (Westbrook) reminded me of a watered-down margarita from Chi-Chi's. I could only finish half of the can. I am still baffled as to how this style is so popular.

    But to each their own.

I think over time, the pallet seeks out new experiences and flavors. I didn't always love sours. These days, the answer is Yes.

A gose does not equal a Flanders Red does not equal a Berliner Weisse which does not equal an Oud Bruin or a Lambic... etc... etc..

which is why I really I think people need to stop referring to lumping all these beers into one category...

not to say you wont like those other styles either...

I love sours. Having said that I love a lot of styles so it is by no means close to my favorite stye. I want one every few weeks. A lot of that is dictated by my stomach. I can handle about 10 oz before the acid stomach sets in depending on the pH.

I've had lambics and wild ales as well (neither of which I'm not a huge fan of).

I just specifically mentioned Gose because it was mentioned a couple of times above. But as far as Goses, is Westbrook fairly representative of the style?

And I think "sours" do have something in common...a somewhat sour/tart flavor. Unless, there is such thing as a not-sour sour. But yeah, the different styles of sours are quite different.

I'd say it's close, personally not exact but definitely without question in that "realm".. so yeah if that brew doesn't float your boat you'd might want to stay away from Goses.

    especially when they flock together...

disclaimer... not really Goses... Geeses maybe

I was really hesitant to try my first "sour", but it has quickly become something I love.

Sippin' on a gose right now, second one in a row.

Sours are great, just can't have too many pours in one sitting....heartburn city.

This is a style I really want to love. I am a big fan of dubels and quads so I thought it would be a natural fit. In fairness, I haven't tried too many, and perhaps not the right ones. But so far I'm not a fan at all. It's actually something I struggle with because I feel like I am missing out, given the popularity with enthusiasts. I do live close-ish to OEC, and keep saying "I gotta get up there" but then I always just end up somewhere else, like NEBCO.

I work at home and when I get board or need a different venue, I can go to a local bar, get a Flanders red or bruin and I can nurse them for an hour or so while I do work and it is all very nice. I find I drink sours much slower than I do other beers and under certain circumstances it works out very well.

Rather drink sours than any other style. Have to limit my beers for health reasons, so only buying/drinking what I truly enjoy. Sours and saisons offer lots of variation and complexity if I'm only having one or two.

I love the good ones but anything under that they seem to drop off quicker IMO.

I would take a sour any day over some BA stout that just tastes like booze.
