I recently tried Southern Tier's Choklat stout and really enjoyed it. Since then I have been looking for stouts with a slightly sweeter flavor profile. Most of the chocolate stouts that I have purchased since just have a savory dark chocolate flavor and not really a chocolate sweetness. I also enjoyed the flavor of the Bourbon County beers I was able to try this year and wasn't sure if all barrel aged beers had a similar sweetness to them. I had a couple milk stouts and wasn't really a fan of the style. I am also looking to try some maple flavored stouts but it seems that the only ones brewed are very limited. I wasn't sure if you guys had any recommendations for stouts that fit any of these criteria that I could find at my local bottle shop. Obviously I would like to try things like Good Morning or CBS but I will have to wait to try them (hopefully) at EBF. If I missed something in my forum search that answers this feel free to link. Thanks.

Southern Tier makes some of the sweetest beers available. Have you tried Crème Brulee?

I haven't been able to try DL or any of the Bruery stouts yet unfortunately. I don't have the "trade bait" and live in MA. I tried Creme Brulee but found that it tasted overly artificial unfortunately. That was the first milk stout I tried and didn't really enjoy it.

I have one of these waiting for me at a buddy's house. He told me it would change my feelings on milk stouts so I am interested to try it.

Mokah from southern tier is really good. Rogue double chocolate stout is very sweet in a good way. Very smooth.

I don't really care for milk stouts but friends that do think it's delicious

Also Coco stout by WestO in Iowa. It will be hard to get a hold of due to limited distro, but it just won gold in sweet stout at GABF last year

Left Hand's standard milk stout is pretty much Hershey's Chocolate Syrup in a beer bottle!

Another vote for Left Hand's Milk stout....its my standard for the style.

Also, not distributed to you so you'd have to trade for it, but Odell's Chocolate Milk Stout tastes like adult chocolate milk. Fits what it seems like you are looking for (even better than Left Hand's Milk Stout)

The style "milk stout" is synonymous with "sweet stout", so if you don't like one, you won't like the other. If you are looking for a nice creamy chocolate taste, look for Ten Fidy and brews similar to that.
