I have had 2 trades recently where the wrong bottle was sent to me.

The first was a mixup on the other guy's end with two trades going out the door at the same time and sending the wrong bottles. He wanted us to ship to each other and he would send labels. I said that it was stupid to pay that much in shipping, and if the other guy was ok keeping that bottle I would keep mine. The other trader agreed and the shipper was happy to save on the shipping and said he was sending me a thank you box for coming up with the idea and being so cool about it. A month later and no word from him or a box.

The second trader sent me a Port Black Tuesday instead of a regular. I messaged him asking if he intentionally did it or if it was an accident and he messaged me back saying it was a mistake and asking if I could ship it back. He said he really wanted to share that bottle with a friend and it was his only one and that he would send me some extras as a thank you for my troubles. I shipped his bottle back and got his box yesterday which had the Black Tuesday and nothing else.

Let me state that I did not ask for nor did I expect thank you bottles in either trade, I was just being a decent human being in both cases. I am really annoyed on both accounts because these guys screwed up and said they were sending thank you beers and then did not follow up on their word. I am especially annoyed in the first scenario because I didn't even get the bottle I traded for him n the first place.

In five years of trading I had never had a wrong bottle scenario and in 2015 I've had one per month. I sure hope the trend doesn't continue...

I've ad this happen before, you just need to decide if it's worth te angst it's apparently causing you. I've ad someone send me a lesser beer than they were supposed to, and offered to make it up on a future trade.

Needless to say, that trade has never HAPPENNED, despite my efforts at contacting him.

Muled an entire case of Arthur to a guy in the Midwest, supposedly in exchange for a prop. No prop, ever sent to me, he claims he meant he would offer to TRADE me a prop. WTF? No thank you box, no nothing.

So, they both go on the DNT list for me, it's an easier solution tan letting it continue to bother me. Douche bags will never change, and they're not worth aggravating yourself over.

Like te saying goes, not saying you hate them, but hating someone is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.

I get the last laugh every time I see them post an ISO for a beer I have or have access to.

Who the hell sends the wrong bottles..... And don't make it right. Shit happens, but I've done a hall of a lot more trades than the new forum says, and never a problem. I've had great trade partners and none of the asshole behavior I see here noted everyday. I'm sorry this shit exists, hope you get what you're owed.

Thanks for the replies and for letting me vent. I think @TheVicster had the best advice. I'd appreciate if he would BM'd me the names of those two traders in his story. I am not posting names here, it just isn't worth the headache.

Yeah, you just have to decide if it's worth the headache. I finished second in a BIF and whoever was assigned to send to me didn't. I contacted the BIF organizer and just asked that he tell me who my sender was for DNT purposes. He did not tell me, but told me he would be sending me a box to make up for it. I told him not necessary, but he insisted. 6 months later. No box, and no BIF name. It's annoying, but it's not worth me getting worked up over. Just have to be more careful over who I BIF with I suppose.

I don't get involved in BIFs but it sounds like there are 2 names that need to be revealed here

After very carefully reading this thread, I think the most helpful advice I can provide is this: @TheVicster should have the "h" key on his keyboard repaired.

For real??? I'm surely not doubting you. I'm shocked that the person running the BIF did not at least give you the name of your sender. Let alone saying they would send you a "replacement" box to make up for the *dead beat* and its been 6 months with no box from either?? WTH.

As far as sending the wrong bottles, I realize stuff happens, but cmon. That's basic 101 for trading. That's like adopting a kid, going through the necessary paperwork, and having the adoption agency bring you out a boy, when all your paperwork clearly states a girl.

Did the 2nd trader, with the Port Black Tuesday, send you a pp shipping label for the return? IF not, it's entirely reasonable to request that he at the very least reimburse the additional shipping expenses you incurred when correcting his mistake. You did this as a kindness & he should ensure that you are not out money. Mention perhaps that while you're willing to forego the promised ty bottles you want to be reimbursed your additional shipping costs. Suggest he PP the funds. While I think the ty bottle(s) should have been sent, you REALLY should not be out money because you were decent enough to fix his fuck up, which btw, benefited him more than you. And since you're the good guy refrain from calling him the ******** weasel that he is.

It's a lot easier to just add them to your DNT list and move on, assuming you're not out any money and have beer you actually want. I had a really lopsided $4$ trade and the other party was supposed to make up for it with some quality bottles that he had listed out for me. Nothing crazy, just nicer shelf stuff. Box arrived with not a single one of those bottles and when I mentioned it to him he promised to send them since he "forgot". Box never came, I never pressed the issue because it's just not worth the hassle. If you make enough trades, you're bound to come across some traders that just don't get it.

Did this guy at least cover your shipping for sending his bottle back?

I am nice, but not stupid lol. I talked him through sending me a shipping label via email prior to sending it back.

Ok, wasn't sure from post above, I would leave ok feedback, If he sent the wrong bottle and promised to make it up for your troubles sending the beer back, sounds like he didn't do that. I sent a guy a box to make up for a delayed box that was shipped back forth because of USPS. Something out of my hand but I felt that I needed to make up for the delay.

In this case, this is the mistake in the hands of the sender and should have made it up in some way.

Yeah. It was odd. And annoying. But, half of trading is filtering out those that don't see things like you do. I'm over it.

Eh. It was kind of a weird BIF with only 6 or 7 folks in it. I obviously don't know who my sender was, and I've not seen the BIF organizer run any more BIFs. If he did, I'd send him a BM and make sure he handles it correctly or else I'd have to speak out in his BIF and warn the participants. I'm not going to chase down a box though, and I'll protect the group by stepping in if necessary.

In fairness, those BT variant labels are a bitch to read. I read one of mine about 5 times to make sure I was sending the correct bottle out. It's an understandable mistake. But the bottom line is, if he didn't at least send a label to you to send it back to him, that's just wrong.
