At the end of last year's November, he posted into the BeNeLux forum that a trade regarding a bunch of Cantillon bottles had gone south and he was searching for a new trading partner. I told him I felt sorry for his situation and would be glad to help him out.

We then decided on the following international trade: both parties exchange one box asap, while @nilesschmidt will send a second box, when Abrasive from Surly gets released in 2015.

Both first boxes were exchanged, he left a positive feedback and I was waiting for Abrasive to get released. As I am a patient person, I waited for him to check back on me, which was on the 23th of January, telling me he got the Abrasive. He was concerned about the cold weather, but I told him, we've got a very warm winter in Germany. Then nothing happened, I had to ask what was going on, and he told me a story, including being busy and fixing a pipe burst.

He then provided me with a USPS tracking-number on the 4th of February, telling me a friend of his was stopping by, to supply him with fresh Abrasive. A day later he told, there was apparently no shop in his area selling fresh Abrasive, which led to the point, that he would visit the brewery in two weeks. I agreed on waiting.

Two and a half weeks later I had to check back on him again, as he would visit this site frequently but without giving me any update. The latest message I got from him is dated Feb 23th, asking me if I would be interested in Glassware/shirts, while I responded I am only interested in getting the beer we had decided on, also I would appreciate a timely update.

He has been visiting Beeradvocate since then, while he ignored me completely. I am waiting since the end of January and really do not appreciate it any longer to to keep after that guy. Therefore I decided to make this public.

Not that this is an excuse or anything, but Abrasive didn't get released until Janurary and then there have been some carbonation issues with it. Especially the first few batches. Abrasive, up until very recently, was only available in Minnesota or very limited through a local store online. Chicago go it a little under 2 weeks ago, but sounds like it was limited and is pretty much gone. It maybe hitting Iowa soon, but will be limited as well. Lastly, it is done for the season, so what is out there is it.

That being said, it is still easy to get here in Minnesota. I would just ask for it with a canning date of 1/23 or later.

If you don't get it from him, let me know and I can help. I have an extra 4 pack with a canning date of 1/23.

In before anyone else: if you need a solid US trading partner to send Cantillion to I'm your guy!

Seriously @nilesschmidt send the dude his beer. Excuses abound it appears.

I visited Minneapolis last week, found Abrasive (canned 2/6) with no problems.

@nograz thanks so much for being a great guy, but still, I talked to @nilesschmidt about the Abrasive situation, as we both were aware of the carbonation issue. He tested one can, told me everything was okay (on the 30th of Jan.), but thats about it.

Ok, just wanted to make sure you were aware, again it is no excuse and it should have been communities, which it sounds like it was.

The issues with the early canning would range from low carb to flat and could be anywhere from no cans to all fans. I had 2 4 packs of the early canning and whike none were flat, they were under carbed. 1/23 canning has been great and actually tasted better then the previous canning. I really would ask for the 1/23 or 2/6 (or later if there are) canning of Abrasive to be sure you get not only the freshest (though abrasive holds up really well), but to also make sure you get cans with the least amount of issues.

Let me know if you need my 4 pack.

Ok few things here, first i spoke with you last week via BM stating that I was going to the brewery last week and would be in the twin cities area this weekend. At this point you said OK, not sure why there is an issue seeing as you knew exactly what was going on, not to mention the fact that the box is already on the way to you. Below is an exact quote from you last month

" I don't have the smallest problem with waiting for the beer, I'll wait for another two weeks and hope for better weather in your area."

Please let me know what changed?

Multiple times you have stated you were ok with waiting until I could get you fresh abrasive, and now Im being called out in a public forum where youre changing the story that I was being told?

No clue who's telling the truth here, but this sounds like it's probably just another case of one person not communicating well enough with the other.

@nilesschmidt: on 0205 you told me you would be visiting the brewery in two weeks, nothing else. That would left you with two weeks to communicate with me, but nothing happened. Please don't quote while disregarding the context.

That being said, things weren't adding up any longer to me. You were online here, without answering my requests. First the pipeburst, then a friend who failed to supply you with beer available on shelves, bad weather, being busy, and even after your visit at the brewery, no response. Also, you never took initiative since the first exchange of boxes, you commited to sending a second box, while I had to check on you several times - its very annoying to keep after an adult for several weeks.

You left me hanging in the balance without showing any urge to actually ship the second box.

So is a box headed east to Germany, or not?

Seems like some bad communication here.

If there is a box headed out, then provide some tracking, and we'll leave this open until both parties are made whole.

The only way to tell who's what is to post up copies of the communication. The two stories are very different at this point.

I agree to the above posts, and thank you for your input.

Neither did he contact me since I posted the story here, nor did he give me an update on sending the box yet.

^^^As I said above. @nilesschmidt , give us all a response here and tell us you're shipping or have shipped him the beer, then send him a PM with tracking and send him the beer he's owed. And then this is done.

    Not much else to it.

Why are so many people concerned about a trade that is not theirs? and he already has the tracking #, its on the way, nothing more to say about that

This is so pathetic its almost funny

Why? Because as a community we all work together to make sure any bad apples are weeded out so people dont get ripped off. Not saying that is you, but participation by people in a community setting the standards of good trading will make for a better trading environment for everyone and hopefully limit the number of bad trades.

Thats a very Stogies like attitude...if you did nothing wrong, you have nothing to be defensive about.
