What is your personal highest rating for a beer? Not the site or the bros' rating, yours. Mine is Old Guardian Oak Smoked (2013) at 4.59. I tried to fight making a beer from Stone my top rating but I couldn't deny it. It is a combination of three of my favorite things in a beer. It is a Barleywine (which I love) with oak AND smoke flavors. I love it. Hoping to get more to age.

I too, love barley wines. There just something about there big booze taste that is just so inviting. As for me, my highest rated to date is Sucaba 2015 by Firestone Walker at a 4.69 Closely followed by their Double DBA. I agree with your choice in not wanting to sell out and rate stone so highly but honestly they are doing something right if they are opening brewery's in the east coast and Berlin.

Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro at 4.94. It's basically perfect.

My highest rated beer is Alpine Nelson. I don't have a number because I don't review beers on this or any other site but To me it's all other beers and if we are going to go with 5 being a perfect rating then all other beers are at the best a 4.9.

Westvleteren XII comes in front with a 4.93, which on the surface looks pretty tough to crack.

To round out the top 5:

    - Reinaert Grand Cru: 4.74
    - Tart of Darkness: 4.62
    - Gulden Draak (Dark Tripel): 4.6
    - Evil Twin Lil B: 4.57

Just had it this past weekend: Triple Shot by Tree House Brewing at 4.82. Amazing imperial coffee stout. It was a two 750 mL limit on growler fills, my hope is someday they bottle it or make a larger batch once the increased production of their flagship beers is in effect.

Second place is Congress St. IPA by Trillium at 4.76. Then a bunch of beers tied at 4.75 including BCBS Backyard Rye 2013.

I have a quite a few 5's but these stand above the rest: BCBCS, BB Black Maple, BV Dark Lord. Those are all very close in comparison

My favourite is a devil of a brew called "Duvel" - I always keep a 750ml bottle in the cupboard for special occasions (and to drink/replace if there's no special occasion on the immediate horizon).

Three of the possible contenders are Kentucky Breakfast Stout, Left Milk Stout Nitro on Draft and Great Divide Chocolate Oak aged Yeti.

I've had the Left Hand and if that's as good as the others, I don't see why people find them so enticing. Left hand isn't that great compared to what KBS is supposed to be.

I don't rate much anymore, but Heady and Abrasive are at the top. If I was going to rate some beers I've had recently, Hop Ju Ju and Trillium would push these. On the Stout side Eclipse EC 20, and BC Coffee would be my tops.

I am pretty new to this game and even more green with IPA's but my highest rated beer is Hopslam at 4.8. Had it this past weekend, local bar had one bottle left and it was fantastic. I doubt it will always be my top beer but theres no way it's not up there.
