It sold out in 15 minutes, not 30 seconds. Also, if Green Man did the same for Bootsy or Snozz, there would be a similar reaction. I am also super intrigued by how you not only can declare Red Angel to be so tasty, but to call it lambic. It isn't lambic style and was never intended to be an American lambic at that. And when exactly did you taste a beer that hasn't been released? Please enlighten us. Let's also compare the ratings and reviews of Bootsy, Snozz, and Maceo to Black Angel, Genesis and Oblivion and see what the consensus is on who makes better sours.

So that warranted your original response to my post (the one that you quickly deleted)?

I would agree that Wicked Weed in general is a better all around brewery, but that Green Man is actually maturing their sour beers properly. The other Green Man beer that I love is Rainmaker, but yes, Wicked Weed as a whole is a much better brewery.

Funnily enough, the Snozzberry bottle actually does say it's "Lambic-style."

I think Green Man purposefully trolls WW.

January 20th - WW announces BA French Toast Stout is on tap. January 22nd - GM announces the Bootsy release.

February 28th - WW does its Red Angel pre-sale. March 2nd - GM announces the Snozzberry release.

Ha, probably just a coincidence but it's still kind of funny to me.

Sours are sweet, sours on the brain, sippin' beers ain't never the same! Cascade Blueberry is something a bit "different"! Still available I think.

How much were bottles (last year)? I saw None More Black was going for $15. About that? Thanks.

You're absolutely right but, in the business world, "trolling" is called being competitive. WW and GM are the only two breweries in Asheville currently doing sours. They are each others' primary competition.

Most GM sours run around $20 for a 750ml. Based on what WW is going to be charging for their "angel series" GM sours are a bargain...and better imo

Hey now! You haven't had anything from the "expensive and .rar" part of the angel series yet. While I'm sure you will be correct in the end, lets reserve our judgement for March 28th around 12:05 PM.

Oh definitely, I get it for sure. But it's not like Green Man isn't going to sell all of its bottles of the sours, whether it's at the brewery or via distribution. And they don't have them there on tap at the taproom (at least they didn't with Bootsy). So it's not like they really need to time it in this fashion. But they still seem to time it such that it takes a little of Wicked Weed's thunder away from whatever they've got going on. And I think it's funny.

Me too. I've only been in town a little over a year, so I can't comment as to prior to 2014, but it seems that Green Man has vastly improved their game in the past year especially with the hoppy beers. Destroyer, The Beast, Hand of Doom and Rainmaker are all fantastic IPAs that are just as good as, if not better than, Freak, East Side or Die and Hop Burglar. Add to that their simultaneous initiative to producing these much sought-after sours and you can see they're all direct answers to WW's offerings (with the exception of Snozz and Rainmaker since they both first came out in '13). Who's doing better overall? Well that's purely subjective since the quality is so high with both breweries.

Anyone have any idea who WW is going to go with in regards to canning Freak? Because if they aren't using Ball, they're wrong.

Ill give you their sours could be better (I only say could bc I have not had a GM sour yet), but I have not had an IPA from GM that has wowed me like freak constantly does. Hell, it is on the same level IMO as pliny etc.
Other IPAs from WW i cannot say. East side or die and Lunas are both exceptional as well. But fREAK man freak.

Have you had Hand of Doom, Beast or Destroyer? I won't say they're all better but certainly on par with Freak IMO.

Have not had those. The last IPA I had there was Toad.. It tasted like wet dog. Perhaps it was due to the wet dog who was urinating not too far from where we were sitting. But who knows. Not saying you're wrong, will investigate. Those on tap or been on tap recently? Ill be up there this weekend.
