    Hey guys!

Every couple weeks I help an older gentleman order some beers for his smalltown Wine & Craft Beer store. This gentleman is very old school and lives in a small town that doesn't have a lot of distribution options. Out of a limited list of breweries that are available I have picked out the decent ones. I was wonder what brews you guys would suggestions for these next couple of weeks?!

I have covered most of the basics from Bell's and Founders but I wanted to stock his shop with something new. The Expresso Yeti, Nugget Nectar, Holy Gose, Face Plant IPA, and Bell's Brown was my lineup last week.

P.S. His access specialty beers selection is slim to none

    Anderson Valley
    Avery Brewery
    Bell's
    Champion
    Duck Rabbit
    Great Divide
    Great Lakes
    Lost Rhino
    Hoppin' Frog
    Founders
    Lagunitas
    Troegs
    North Coast
    Oskar Blues
    Jolly Pumpkin
    Stone

Suggestions are deeply appreciated by this small-town community:slight_smile:

What sells through the quickest? Buy something else in that style.

How are his clientele? Are they enthusiatic to craft beers? I'm just wondering because you might need some "transitional craft brews" to get them into the heavier stuff (the imperials, the BA, etc.).

You could also play the "Drink Local Card." Try to convince his patrons to support local Virginia small businesses by showcasing some local flavor. Breweries like Three Brothers, AleWerks, Devil's Backbone are all great choices. People eat up the idea of buying local and supporting small businesses, especially in small towns (as we all should). It could help from a business standpoint while also introducing the public to the craft world.

Would suggest more local beers if possible. Alewerks distribute to the area?

Thanks man! Its a pretty interesting target market. Their is a small/medium size college in the town but everyone else its pretty traditional. On top of that its a 7 mile long town.. kinda a cluster fuck.

also,.. big fan of supporting the VA locals:slight_smile: good suggestion

Damn, I can't beleive you get Jolly Pumpkin down in Radford, I've never see it anywhere else in VA, and I've lived in all 3 large metro areas. My impression of Radford though is a bunch of broke college kids and farmers, so I don't know if I would recommend anything too expensive or out there.

I'd suggest Founders All Day. Nice beer, but not as expensive as some craft stuff, and easily session-able for the college crowd. The 15 packs of cans seem to be a big hit in most stores in NY. It also might be worth finding/printing some BA or Ratebeer shelf cards for the beers. A little education and explaining on the beers might help them move.

I'm a pretty huge fan of Alewerks overall, I don't think those should be hard to get in VA - Bitter Valentine especially, it was bottled on 2/14 (go figure) and I've seen cases of it all over. Ratebeer's #1 Virginia beer. It's very good and fantastic from the bomber. I think it would move fast.

Cafe Royale is good too, personally I think it's much better on tap than bottled. Ditto the Bourbon Barrel Porter.

My personal favorite from them is the Jubilee VIII - it's pricey but I love it.

The other VA breweries folks have mentioned I'd agree with, another favorite is Blue Mountain's Barrel House stuff.
