Year Old Heady

    Saw a youtube video of john kimmich pulling out a year old heady to compare with fresh heady so me and @1BeerToRuleThemAll decided to do the same...yes we did save heady for a year so fire away with the sarcasm...what we found though was interesting...it had such a minimal flavor dropoff we actually thought we picked up the wrong can( we didnt, it was marked)...also, it remained really hazy unlike how clear the heady in the video was...anyone have an answer for that?

    I'd still drink it. I've had old Hopslam too and it was still great. Totally different but great.

    I have one can that we found in the back of my girlfriend's fridge. It's from Nov '13. I'm not all that interested in opening it though, to be honest. Not that flavor drop off is even in the conversation after a year, but in my experience, heady falls off dramatically after about 3 months. So back to OP suggesting that there was minimal flavor drop off after a year - that's just silly.

    I drank the beer with OP. No joke, slight drop off in taste, smell was a little more malty than fresh heady. But I was shocked that it held up

    Well have you tried year old HT to make that statement? If not, do it and report back. Until then, I'll believe the person who brews the beer and the people who have tried it. No brewer is gonna say his beer tastes fine after a year if it really doesnt. ESPECIALLY a beer that doesnt stay on the shelf longer than a week at most.

    I had HT at 6 months and the flavor did not "drop off dramatically."

    You know what is silly? Saying someone's opinion on a beer is silly. Your palate must be so refined.

    I certainly love fresh ipa's but older one's aren't as bad as some make it out to be. Cool experiment, thanks for sharing.

    I don't care what the brewer of the beer says, or what the IPA is, their is going to be dramatically less hop flavor after even 6 months.. It is silly to say otherwise.
