When I'm asked rare beers I've tried, Westvleteren 4 is one I always forget.

Been reminded of it because St. Bernardus Extra 4 just turned up at Ton Overmars. Sadly, it's golden.

St Bernardus Extra 4 is a Belgian Pale. Westy 4 was a dubbel, so the former is a poor substitute for the latter.

According to the International Trappist Association the Tre Fontane abbey in Rome, Italy became one of its newest members. There's already a Tre Fontane ale (a belgium-style tripel with eucalyptus flavour, 8.5% vol.), but it's currently being brewed outside the abbey. The monks are now in the process of installing their own micro brewery inside the walls of the abbey, to start brewing themselves. That way, their beer will probably get the ATP-label, and becomes Italy's first authentic trappist ale.

It's pretty confusing since "La" is like saying "The", but in French (La maison = the house). So it's an abbey in The Netherlands but it has a French name.

i think it would be lmsot impossible to do all of them. some of them make patersbier which you can only get at the monastery. something like @Kanger posted seems more doable than every trappist beer brewed and also quite delicious as well

    From the Trappist website:
In 2014 Engelszell developed a third Trappist beer: NIVARD, a blond beer with 5.5% ABV
