Wow this guy really is something. It is tempting to believe him except when the facts get in his way. So @nilesschmidt please take care of getting current tracking that the box you owe has shipped, or actually send a box now.

Sorry if you think I have no right to say this, but in my defense I must say I don't care how you feel about it. We take care of our own here.

Last post here to explain, although I dont even really see the need.

I had offered to send him the package earlier, but let him know that the beer was not the most recent batch, that is why the tracking # shows as old, because when you ship USPS international you pay when you print the label. He declined and said he had no problem waiting, as he had said multiple times before. I was going to Minneapolis for a bachelor party this last weekend and would get him some then, to which he replied ok. The reason I am frustrated is because I have been told 3 seperate times no rush, just get the freshest you can and even declined the option to ship him some because he wanted a more recent batch. Along with tracking it sometimes takes up to 2-3 days to show when you go international. This package was dropped off Saturday. On the communication, yes, I will agree with all, it could have been better, but I was with 8 of my best friends and responding to a BM was not my first priority. Considering my feedback history and this being the first mention of anything, I dont really see how this is that huge of an issue, enough to bring to a public forum. As far as the people commenting, I think its insane that people other than staff and mods feel the need to voice their opinion.

I think a common agreement we see out of most bad trader threads is that a person who owes a box should never think it's okay to check the site, see a BM from his trade partner, and fail to respond. It has been said time and time again, if you've got time to check the site, you need to make time to communicate with your trade partner. It does appear there may have been some gun jumping on the part of OP, but I'm not sure there's any reason to get overly defensive here. Sounds like you've shipped your box, and sounds like you did so before this thread was even started. So kudos. In the future, I'd suggest letting your trade partner know you've shipped as soon as you do in fact ship, especially if the trade has taken this much longer than anticipated. Just my advice, take it or leave it.

    Cheers and good luck!

Last reply in our private conversation on your side is still dated 23th of Feb. To that point I had to check back on you three times to get any informations at all about what was going on. After reaching out the fourth time, I felt it becomes pointless to try solving this alone, especially seeing you being online, while not responding.

    My .02:

I think that @aleigator should have warned @nilesschmidt that he was considering creating this thread before he pulled the trigger on posting. That would have gotten his attention pretty much just as effectively as calling him out publicly. Not trying to defend nilesschmidt's actions, just saying that, if I was ever considering making one of these bad trader threads, I would give the person ample warning before proceeding.

@nilesschmidt this thread exists largely because you finally communicated publicly what you should have, could have, shared privately when @aleigator attempted to reach you about this multiple times. He was understandably concerned & frustrated to see that you had the time to peruse the site but didn't bother to respond to his messages.

Read almost any bad trader thread & you'll realize that's a huge red flag. All too often people who have ceased communicating have also failed to ship. In many cases these thieves initially strung their trading partners along with reasons & excuses.

Good communication is especially important whenever shipping is delayed regardless of the reasons.

I'm guessing if you thought you had been cheated or shorted beers you'd like to have people take up your cause and help get someone to communicate with you what's going on. As CaveDave said we take care of one another here. It appears you've done what you said you would so hopefully your trader is satisfied and everything turns out well for both parties.

It's very simple: public shaming works.

As mods/admins, we can only do so much.

The community needs to and should protect itself. In an ideal world, community policing *alone* would prevent the vast majority of these problems from happening and solve them once they did. Unfortunately, we're not there.

We *encourage* participation from the trading community in matters like this. Without the voice of those involved, how can we realistically hope make things better?

I 100% agree with the above post, all I am saying is that you gotta give both parties a chance to explain their sides before making assumptions. To believe someone completely with no background knowledge other than one person's statement is irrational, is this Salem circa 1692?

All I'm saying is that there surely is an "attitude" change from the above post in comparison to the below post. Put yourself in the other traders position and think how you would feel if the shoe was on the other foot.

    Hi everyone,

just wanted to state, that I received his box today. It contained exactly the beer, we agreed upon.

Still, I don't regret making this public:

    1. received Abrasive dated on 1/23 - doesn't add up with his story for visiting the brewery to get me the freshest batch possible.

    2. also received some private messages from other BAs, getting the same treatment from him as I did

That being said, I wanted to thank the community for sticking together and helping me out, thanks everyone!
