Mikes twitter still has himself listed as the head brewer of TG so he hasn't changed that yet, might be why they said to change it but a lil overboard

This shit is mad stupid. TG's online marketing and persona has always been pretty corny but throwing shade at their former head brewer who put them on the map is pretty silly.

i think the dispute needs to be settled over a few miller fortunes and jack's frozen pizzas. Than, and only than, will both parties get back to what they are both great at.... making amazing beers.

They can delete away but the damage to their reputation is done, in my opinion. That was a colossally stupid, classless move. I lost a lot of respect for them, there.

Don't lie. If they released KBBS tomorrow we would all be there.

Understandable they're upset that their head brewer walked off the job and didn't tell anyone anything about what the state of beers in tanks were.

We opened one at the brewery today and I would second the notion that it tastes like BC Rare. That's all for my in depth rating as I just got back from the 4 and a half hour drive back, which made the whole trip for bottles 9 hours in the car.

Shouldn't more than just one person know this information. Certainly the owner of the brewery would know what was brewed and when, right?

My understanding of the situation is that he wouldn't let any assistant brewers help all that much, made them go somewhere else when he was dry hopping etc. Hence the reason why the huge turnover they had. I'm sure Clark knew what beers were in which tanks, but not the minutia of every thing going on in the brewery at all times.

Man, that would suck for the new brewer if no one else knew how to make those beers then, right? As for the second part, that is on him. He's the owner and quite frankly, the face of the brewery.

My understanding again is that the recipes are known, but the stuff in the tanks no one really knows exactly where they're all at because Mike was secretive with the assistants. When you own a business you have to put your trust in the people you hire to do the jobs you hire them for. Otherwise you'd do it all yourself.

Trust goes both ways. Employee and employer. Maybe Mike was tired of working his ass off on recipes just to have the owner set a 2 case limit of limited beers to create hype.

Out of pure speculation and trying to see both sides, i would look at is as two people who perhaps have different interpretations as to what they want to do with their beers. A major driving force that i could see splitting that would be the fact that Clark owns the company and has a lot of capital and human resources invested, where as mike is more invested in the shape of the beer. it seems to me there is also a driving ego and creativity clash considering how TG has garnered itself as one of the breweries making elite beers. This should not come across as something startling. how many times have we seen the great artists be it visual, music, acting, writing always seem to find a way to ruin a good thing. maybe to give us all nostalga and hope for someone (s) who can find a way to make great art and still keep it together. Who's to say Clark and the crew can't continue brewing elite beers.... who's to say tree house won't harken the same situation about TG once the honeymoon phase is over and come back full circle (regifter style). As for the twitter jabbing... that is lame of course, but it seems preposterous to pick a side and think the other is smelling like roses unless one knows the whole story. keep making great beer, the both of them, please.

If you think the brew schedule is a mystery to the owner, you're kidding yourself. Can you imagine the owner of a small brewery telling you, "Well, I'm not quite sure what is in the tanks at this point..." As far as I know, none of Mike's "assistants" quit with him. Also, if you're the owner, don't you think you oughtta know what the heck you're brewing? Whether that's what's in the tanks or what your recipes are. There's really no out for Clark in this one. I think he's doing an amazing job with keeping people on their toes and keeping interest in the brewery, but you've got to think about when Mike left and how much of his beer is actually still in the fermenters. Time's running out for TG before they have to give their new brewers a shot at their staple recipes.

Wouldn't Blackstone be more likely to host a tap war seeing as they have 3 under their belts?

SR-71 is just assassin aged longer. Period. Not blended with anything. Not different barrels.
Should be entered as the same beer.

    And your source is?

Seriously, there's so much speculation on exactly what it is.. I honestly believe the only people who know exactly what it is are Mike and Clark and they ain't talking.

I literally sat with Clark in the taproom for 3 hours and talked about beer, including SR71 and he never once said "It's just Assassin that's been aged longer."

Perhaps he saw the writing on the wall (if he can be replaced, he will) and needed to protect his own intellectual property. Clark wanted to know what was going on, which is his right as the owner of the business. In a self-perpetuating vicious cycle, they just ended up beating each other up?
