At Kulminator. Kicked it off with a 2004 Rodenbach Vin de Cereal, then a 2005 Orval, now the 1979 St Bernardus St Sixtus Pater. The 1979 is still in decent nick. Like a good Madeira really. The Rodenbach was outstanding as well.

Still tossing up the finale. Maybe a BA Barleywine from De Molen, otherwise a 2002 Oerbier Special Reserva.

And don't worry Lukie, I spent the morning at Cantillon. The barrel room is like a holy place.

That barrel room is indeed holy (at Cantillon). Was there a few weeks ago. What blew me away in Belgium wasn't so much the sours and aged beers (although excellent), but more the stouts (De Struisse), blondes (couldnt believe how good they were, i.e. Westvleteren, Kapitel in Watou, etc), and unique beers such as a fresh XX bitter. I guess I'm more of a fresh beer man - thats why the Germans do it for me more than the Belgians. If you haven't had a kellerbier or landbier in Franconia, you have not lived.

Speaking of sours - I'm heading out to Feral for lunch to sample that Watermelon Warhead everyones raving about......

It's as good as Lukie says it is. Some of my friends claim it has a slight hint of 'ahem' girl...if you get my drift.

Tonight after work will be some Red Rackham. Bought on name alone. On that topic, if they re-named any of the Squire range 'Chuck Hahn Solo' or something of that ilk, that is all I would drink.

Mistress Mordecia tried Old Rasputin yesterday....put it down after 3 sips. I cried myself to sleep last night. Alone.

No, no, no. I meant it tastes like girl...ummm, the parts that are unmentionable in polite conversation.

I don't think it's girly at all. I dig it, but then again 'that' is one of my predilections.

Hmmm I think the women in question may have a wild yeast infection.....

Currently enjoying the karma citra. Feral need to get these beers bottled in pint bottles, gee that would be something!

Not so much drinking but housekeeping at my hotel stole my bottles of De Cam Oude Gueuze and Gueuze Tilquin.

I will have to console myself with some more lambic at Moeder Lambic this evening.

No. Fontainas. There is a laundromat next door which means I can do some boring necessities while still having fun.

Yeah. Don't get me started. The Tiquin was great on tap so I know what I'm missing. I'll try to track down down tomorrow at Dranken Geers. In the worst case, there will be Cantillon at Moeder.

Not as good as the Gueuze. Less complex and less intense.

That said, I have now found heaven and it is not a lambic. It is Toccalmatto Zona Cesarini. An OMG type IPA with the brightest, most complex hop aroma I have ever encountered.

And to make things even better, the hotel let me know that they found the gueuzes. The maid thought she was doing me a favour by cleaning out the fridge for me.
