Apologies if there is already a thread on this, but I didn't find it via search and I don't see any beers reviewed / listed: does anyone have any experience with Standard Brewing over by Leschi? Love to support the little guys / upstarts, but wanted some recon before making the trek if possible.

I stopped in this week and sampled through both of their IPAs, CDA and Mexican Pineapple beer. The IPA and CDA were stylistically great (and clean, something rare in some Seattle nanos) and the west coast IPA really stood out. Don't let the the name Standard invoke mediocrity, I feel they are rather quite humble!

    Stop on in!

Agreed. Cool little spot with very solid beers. I quite enjoyed the CDA, but it isn't light...the version I tried a few months ago was around 9% ABV I think. I'm looking forward to a repeat visit to try some other stuff.

Excellent - I'll definitely plan a trip. I was a bit reluctant early on due to statements that they were running out of beer. No fun making the trek and ending up beerless.

I just want to resurface this thread after making my first visit. The Philistine IIIPA was reported to be incredible so I visited to get a pour and see what else was on tap. Sadly, I missed the Philistine by minutes but the other beers I sampled were all very good. They seem to have a pretty broad selection on tap at any given time. I had a west coast IPA, imperial IPA, schwarz kolsch, biere de garde, and a gruit. All were very good ... and how many one man operations are pumping out several different IPAs as well as a panoply of European styles. The gruit was very interesting - touch of smoked malt / peat with an herb blend that included marjoram, lemon thyme, herbs of provence. Simultaneously a touch smokey and very floral.

    Seriously, go patronize Standard.

    Hours are good:

    Wednesday 4pm-8pm
    Thursday 4pm-8pm
    Friday 4pm-8pm
    Saturday 2pm-8pm
    Sunday 2pm-8pm

Doesn't say if they're kid friendly / dog friendly. The inside space is tiny but there is a little outdoor area cordoned off from the street by bamboo stalks (I think - some sort of plants). It's on a not so savory street but inside feels like a little enclave. The owner / brewer will be serving you and you'll have a direct view into the brewery from inside. I can't imagine they'd object to dogs in the outdoor area ...

It's kid friendly, but there really isn't any room for them to do anything but sit.

Isn't that like most breweries though?

That mexican pineapple beer sounds really good.

It's in the ID so you can sop up the booze afterwards with some chinese or vietnamese before heading on to Chucks CD or elsewhere.

Where did you see the Mexican pineapple beer? After having Rev Nat's Tepache, I'm very interested.

I had hoped they'd have some info about it on their site, but the only reference was a blog post from the time of Lazerlobe's post, and it was just the name (no process or ingredient info).

I can't think of a single other industry (for lack of a better term) where competitors (for lack of a better term) speak with genuine respect and admiration for one another, for no purpose other than to support and promote the whole community.
A rising tide lifts all boats, folks.
