Any sightings or anyone know if this will be hitting stores around the Front Range?

It will be hitting the stores. My store guy just told me they are getting it in as he told me the new beers for the day. Didn't say when but my guess is the next couple of weeks. And it was unsolicited information.

Allocations are in and should be rolling this week or next to stores, in limited supply of course.

CR Goodman didn't know anything about it. Probably an Avery distribution

Edit: My CR Goodman rep, that is....

Hmm....wasn't one of the bigger releases, and it kind of seems like Avery was expecting a much bigger turn out at the release (6 bottle allotment went to 12 and they didn't even bother with tickets this time) and its hitting out of state distribution quickly....I'm wondering with the Avery sours, is the "bloom is off the rose" so to speak?

It was for me anyway a couple of releases ago. Too much chaos for B, B+ beer. The Margareate was the last for me. On the shelf, too much $$....and I'm not that into sour/barrel beers.

I think a sunday release was a horrible idea for avery. (good for me because not much of a wait) I think they need to start bottling some of the beers they have on tap during their releases. It would also help to do brewery only releases. I guarantee a lot of people were thinking why drive up to boulder when i can pick it up at my local liquor store a couple weeks later.

I was curious about the CO vs. CA distribution thing, so i just talked to our National Sales Dude. The only Oud Floris that is making it to CA went out to a sour beer festival (I believe it was Stone Sourfest, but I'm not totally sure). Besides that case or two, we are not sending Oud Floris to CA. The remaining cases are staying in CO.

And true, the Sunday release may not have been the absolute best idea for maximum sales of Oud Floris, but that was just the way it worked out this time around, for better or worse. Besides... we're making a pretty large quantity of each of these releases (with the exceptions of Margarete and Meretrix, and we wish we'd had more of those), so we don't expect to sell out every single bottle at these releases. We just want to make sure to give people a good chance to get them without hunting from store to store.

While the Oud Floris release wasn't a madhouse, that's great. It was actually about what we expected. I think we've gotten better at running these releases, as we sold 60 cases of Oud Floris at that release. That puts it right in the middle of our barrel releases as far as quantity goes (though the expanded allotment probably skews that a bit). It is far easier to expand allotments than shrink them. And sometimes you get caught off guard... we certainly did not expect the crowd that came out for Margarete, and we don't want to make that mistake again.

If we wanted to sell every single bottle and manufacture hype, we could just make less of each beer and make them difficult to get. That's very easy. But I never want to play that game. The goal is to make the best beer we can and put it out for people to drink. Sometimes it's as simple as that.

Thanks for the post Andy...it's much appreciated. I'll admit, I'm one of those that didn't go because it was a Sunday, and I've been going to the releases for the past year. But as long as I can fine a couple on the shelves...I'm good.

I for one loved the Sunday release as it is really the only day that works with the kid's and wife's schedule. It as my first Avery release and we have a damn fine time, thank you. I realize it might not be optimal, but I certainly appreciated it. Great time. Really enjoyed the beers available in line, too.
