What do you think the legal drinking age should be?

I think it should be 18. I turned 18 in December
of 1973 which was the legal drinking age at the time.
I had just started college and feel I was mature
enough to drink. Plus I feel servicemen and women
should be able to drink as well as serve
    our country at that age.

    How about you?

I voted for 19, only as a concession to the "Think of the Children" type of folks. 19 would help keep it out of high schools (:stuck_out_tongue::grinning::wink::slight_smile::sunglasses:) and, since the age is 19 in Canadia it would help keep some of our kids (I live in a border county) from having to travel to a different country to get their drank on.

It not 19 everywhere in Canada... it is 18 in the province of Manitoba (where I grew up) and Alberta, and in Quebec the drinking age is merely just a suggestion...

.. actually it's 18 in Quebec as well.

I vote 18. If you can vote, drive, and die in war for your country then I think you should be able to have a beer.

People are voting for greater than 21? What should it be? 40?

<17. Responsible alcohol use is pretty darn tough to teach when it's always considered the forbidden fruit. I'm not saying saying replace the breast milk with beer, but a healthy attitude about hooch can start to be taught much earlier than 17. At least in my completely biased opinion.

I chose 19. My daughter turned 19 in the fall and I'd rather have her drinking in college than be 18 and drinking in high school. That one year made a big difference in her maturity level.

I voted 18. It is problematic for a 16 year old to be able to get alcohol from their 18 year old friends. But lets face it. Kids will have chances to drink regardless.

If you can fight and die for our country, you damn sure should be able to have a beer.

    19. I grew up in Michigan but enjoyed what Windsor had to offer at 19. Worked for me and my friends, eased us into it all.

drinking age in Scotland is more or less whatever. I feel that an enforced, 18 year, drinking age would help a lot of issues. 19 would also work for similar purposes here in the US.

I voted <17, but my real response to this issue is that I like the German approach. 16 for beer and wine, 18 for hard liquor and allowed to drink with parental consent and supervision at 14. On a side note: driver's license at 18.

It's so damn sensible. Everyone that I knew growing up started drinking well before 21. Some people started drinking heavily well before high school. The prohibition doesn't work. It's just an annoyance or, worse, a problem causer. I knew several people who died before 18 because there is also a prevalent drinking and driving culture amongst rural teens who don't know how to drink responsibly and would rather risk death than call their parents to come pick them up from some party in the middle of nowhere where they have been avoiding the cops all night.

I think it is far better to teach kids how to drink responsibly for a couple years before putting them behind the wheel of an incredibly dangerous piece of equipment.
