I love drinking IPA's out of these but I keep breaking them! I have broken 2 so far and they are extremely easy to tip over due to their center of gravity and small base. I have only broken 1 pint glass in the past 10 years but I've broken 2 Spiegelau's in the past month... Anyone else have this problem?

I can definitely see how they could easily tip but I've been fortunate not to break either of my IPA glasses or stout glasses from them yet.

I have broken one before but it was due to my own idiocy and not the quality of the glass. Spieglau's glasses are quite thin compared to other glasses but the reason behind that is a thinner glass will keep the beer colder for a longer period of time (that much is true). You're right about them being easy to tip but I guess you just have to be careful with them and everything will be fine.

Check out the Libbey Craft Beer glass set on Amazon.com - I have the beautiful Spiegelau glasses and their life is short. With the Libbey glasses you get 6 for the price of ine and they are much sturdier. They also have a nice 21 oz thistle scotch ale glass which is perfect for downing wee heavies while watching large men in skirts hurl telephone poles.

If only I could get those glasses for $10 dollars. I paid around $30 for a set of 2 IPA glasses

They are definitely high quality and both times I have broken them were due to accidents but they are not forgiving at all. Regular pint glasses that I have can withstand quite a bit more than these things.

You're quite right about that but like I said, the thin glass has it's benefits.

I have had mine a few months and have not broken any... I assume it will be the easiest out of my glass collection to break, so I kept my 2nd glass in the box for when the first one does break!

I'm actually not a fan of the Spiegelau IPA glass at all. Don't like the thinness at all, and not just due to the brittle nature. I like a little weight to my glass. Drinking from the glass is okay, until you get near the bottom and you really have to tip the glass to finish it off. I think I made it 3 months before I broke one.

Does anyone have any opinions on the Stone IPA Specialty glasses?

I am mixed on the Spiegelau glass as well... I tend to prefer one of my snifters. But having the option of using it is nice... I like variety. I have about 15 different styles of glass or so depending on my mood and the beer I am about to consume.

Mine broke the other day, but I like it enough to buy another one. Their snifter is awesome too!

I've been using them for about a year and never broken one. If anyone's in the market for them, I just snagged a couple of the Spiegelau 4 piece tasting sets (IPA, wheat, lager, tulip) for $20 a pop on clearance at my local Target. YMMV as not all Targets carry these and they do clearance things often in one store but not others.

I received a pair of those stout glasses for Christmas from a buddy, and both were broken with a couple of weeks. I picked them up off a table and the top, around the rim, cracked. Cheaply made. I contacted them, but they ignored me. I will not purchase or recommend those glasses.

Libbey Galsses are my favorite. We sold them when I worked at a liquor store, they run like 8-10$ apeice but we used to drop/bang them against the shelf infront of customers. After that it was an easy sell.

Have not tipped over their pint glass ... I don't use their IPA, stout, pilsner, or wheat glassware as they are too prone to be knock over. Pint glass & tulip for me. I know my limitations

I love their ipa glasses, but they are definitely more fragile. It's just part of it since they are lead-free crystal. My biggest issue has been other people breaking them while they are sitting on the counter waiting to be washed. You can get 6 of them on Amazon for $39.94 right now. That brings the cost down to $6.65 which is better than $10 a piece!
