They achieved their objective. Selling beer! Now people went away dissatisfied, that happens a lot. My problem with this particular release was the day they chose to do it. St. Patrick's Day is a day of heavy drinking anyway (a lot of the time by people who are geared more to the party scene than drinking a well made $20 sour), no need to add a special bottle release.

The beer geek in me is annoyed by that they chose a day that is known for drinking anyway, so some folks may have ended up with bottles that normally would not go to a bottle release, and it may or may not be a waste. Since it was Green Man and not some average pub environment my argument might be a little bit dodgy but I still think from a beer advocates perspective the day and hour were chosen poorly. Other than that I have no complaints. I don't like early Saturday morning releases either. I honestly think Friday evening or Saturday afternoon is a better time to do a bottle release from a responsibility standpoint.

The correct name of the brewery is Green Man btw. Two words, not one!

He is also on this board trying to inflate trade value, and some sob story about paying for his trip to get the beer.

Yeah I don't get that either since @andyctree isn't the only person who's pissed they went through the trouble of driving down only to find they'd sold out. I have a friend who got off work, immediately headed over at 5:15ish and they were out and he's not happy about it. If they at least had it at 3:00 like with the Bootsy release, the folks who had to work their 9-5 day could at least figure they'd be gone before or at 5:00 rather than go through the trouble of making the trip only to be let down. I hate to sound like a broken record, but they should schedule these releases the same day of the week Wicked Weed does theirs: Saturday morning. That way it gives both the 9-5ers and people in the service industry who usually work 4-whenever a fair shot.

And obviously you can't please everyone (see above post). We went through this with the Omega Point release, humuloner. Friday Evening is impossible because you can't have a bottle release occur simultaneously with the weekend evening rush and I would be pretty upset if a bottle release I wanted to attend occurred on a Saturday evening because I work at 3 every Saturday. Saturday morning is the only way to go to piss off the least amount of people.

I still hold my Friday evening option as viable. But I also said Saturday afternoon based upon (maybe it was you?) who said the same thing you just said in the above quoted post (it boils down to my work schedule and the fact that I am a lazy ass who hates getting up early on Saturday morning!)

So your avatar is actually a picture of yourself, because you're insane.
And therefore you don't want the beer as badly as others. Why should breweries conform to your own personal ideal schedule?

That's just plain wrong about desire! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. That is all I am saying! By the way I missed yesterday to because of damn work! Unfortunately I have responsibilities that apparently you do not. Desire for beer and taking care of my needs and my family's needs do come ahead of wanting a beer. Your statement makes you sound a little bit...like a spoiled trust fund brat.

Wish I had a trust fund. No, I'm afraid I'm just a guy who knows how these type of events usually go down and was in the right place at the right time. Sorry these releases aren't working out in your favor. Maybe next time they'll schedule it at 8PM on Memorial Day while I'm slammed at work and you're having a nice day off.

In the immortal words of Sen. Clay Davis: Sheeeeeeeeeeeit! I wish I had Memorial Day off. Man, you took my words entirely too seriously and apparently you are taking this beer release too seriously as well. Beer is made for mankind to relax and enjoy life. This is not it! Trust fund or not, you need to be cautious with your words.

So, to summarize threads on BA.
    1. Beer released at party that guarantee you get bottles (4min) but cost over $80.00 are a bad idea.
    2. Beer releases during work hours are a horrible idea if you work but ok if you have a trust.
    3. Beer releases that hand out tickets that have little meaning are a horrible idea.
    4. Beer releases during prime bar time are a bad idea.
    5. Beer releases early on a weekend, due to hang over night before, bad idea.
    6. Beer releases on obvious drinking holiday bad idea.
    7. Beer releases announced on twitter since I don't tweet or follow any tweeters are a bad idea (I added this one).

Did I miss anything? I think if we implement the above, it will leave us about 12 days a year we can have beer release parties.

    1. Beer releases where I can get as much beer as I was hoping to get are a good idea.
    2. Beer releases where I can get some but not as much beer as I was hoping to get are OK but have room for improvement.
    3. Beer releases that I can't get to are a bad idea.
    4. Beer releases that I show up to but don't get any beer are shit shows.
    End of List

I still don't see anyone complaining about how Wicked Weed does their releases now.

Ticketed, pre-paid event, you get a few days to pick up your bottles, and they have the beer on tap. Dark Arts was a fantastic release, and I assume Red Angel (besides it selling out quickly) will be much the same. No lines, no cutting, no hoarders.

I'd go to more releases and spend more money at said breweries if I could do this, especially since I pre-paid for bottles.

The complaint for the Wicked Weed releases isn't anything about the actual event, it's that the tickets to attend said event sell out in a minute.
