Dude, no worries at all - you're not being a jerk, and you're entirely allowed to feel differently! I hear you that when it comes to sharing, cost kinda goes out the window. I don't have enough friends that are into the big BA stuff to have frequent bottle shares or anything, nor does the wife enjoy them, so as someone who is often drinking solo, I gotta be a little more value-focused.

In any case, would love to see some CA producers take the lead on the 12oz formats, a la Black Note/KBS/BCBS/etc. Though, if I were them, I don't know why I would -- people are buying the crap out of this stuff at north of $20/bomber.

Silva Stout was in 12 packs last year (or was it two years ago?), and they are going back to a bomber format (sort of like Stone's fancy BA bottles).

I think Breadwinner pretty much nails it in the above post.

i guess it really comes down to preferences, and how much you're willing to spend. your argument is totally legitimate, obviously, since that's the way you feel about it. for me it's hard to compare drinking a coconut Monsters Park with pales/IPAs/lagers etc. the whole point of buying something like a barrel aged MP is you're in the mood for something huge and decadent. whether sharing or having the whole thing yourself. if best value went into all my beer decision making i would probably not be drinking any of the beers i love

Would you find it humorous that I literally purchased these while taking a piss after momentarily stepping out of a work meeting?

    Yes. I would in fact.

    Works out to about $6.25 a 4-pack, I'm in!
Just need to get these to more costcos.

I hear you, man -- it's definitely a to each their own situation. I like the BA stuff as well, and do purchase it, so it's not necessarily as much about best value as relative value. BCBS, for example, is relatively a better value (at the $20/4 pack I got it at, it's <$10 a bomber), so I'm willing to bite the bullet. (Plus, for me, there's the value of having four separate drinking sessions versus 1 (or 2, max) with a bomber, so that gets some weight in the decision.) Of course, every person's notion of relative value is different. For a lot of folks, the value of a bottle of BA MP Coconut is high, so they rightfully purchase it. I'm also just lucky that the beers I love are often (relatively!) cheaper -- as much as I love BA stuff, pales/IPAs/lagers/non-BA stouts/etc. are my bread and butter.

Hey guys, what do you imagine the trade value of these would float at? Trying to grab this set to open at my bachelor party tasting alongside the first release I traded for.

Something like a 3:4 with Voodoo's latest barrel release?

    Bottles were 24BA, 26BAw/coffee, 28BAw/coconut

Obviously the BPT tax and such makes it somewhere just shy of $90 for all 3 if you wanted numbers to look for.

Just keep in mind it was a 1 bottle limit. So even the standard wife mule only gets one extra bottle. I doubt many of these get traded at all.

Thanks, if this was a reply to me! Dollars are similar at least. $82 for the four Voodoo's.

Indeed it was. I typically do the $4$ trades so knowing the value always helps. Kinda like how I now know that Huna bottles are $18-20 this year instead of the perceived $50/bottle.

Dilemma, wanna grab 20pack for Coachella which is in 3 weeks but should I just play it safe and just pick one up now? Or take a chance and wait a couple weeks in hopes of fresher cans? Main concern is BR, loved it but I did notice a pretty big drop off between the ones I drank immediately as opposed to one that sat in my fridge for a week. (Unless that can was due to the oxidation problems that Jacob mentioned earlier)

Will 3 weeks really diminish these cans THAT much? Besides, who's to say they'll have more fresher cans in that time frame?

Multiple people have said that the 03/10 canning run of Booming Rollers is already tasting oxidized. No idea how widespread that may or may not be, but it seems to be a non-trivial risk right now. I doubt they'll do another run of these 20 packs in the next three weeks so if you're intent on buying one, may as well buy it now and at least store the beer cold.

But there was also multiple instances of a bad canning run in that production line. The one in the box is a fresher batch which would probably not have the same issue as the previous one that had questionable random issues with potential canning contamination.

No, the original complaints were about the prior batch of Booming Rollers (2/17 I think). These new complaints are about the 3/10 Booming Rollers batch.

No there were two runs, 2/17~ and 3/10~. Both had issues almost immediately because of the amount of oxygen exposure in the cans. A fair number of them were oxidized in a very short while.

Jacob said they have it figured out now in a post a page or so ago, so we'll see.
