We all know the usual variety pack experience...

    one beer is excellent
    one beer is pretty good
    one beer is okay
the last one is "meh" (or horrible)

Some variety packs do better than this. Others fail to hit even this low mark (Saranac, I'm looking in your direction.)

So, for the benefit of the other beer shoppers here, why don't you list one or two excellent variety packs, and perhaps one that didn't meet your expectations.

    All good beers
    1. 4-way IPA (2015)
    2. Oscar Blues CANundrum (even better before the inclusion of Pinner, but still awesome)

    Fail
Every Saranac variety pack ever made.

Odell's variety pack, montage, is always a winner for me. I mean c'mon, 90 schilling, IPA, runoff red, and wolfpicker are all great beers.

the sierra nevada winter pack, was the pack in question.

    the coffee stout was great
    the porter good
    the pale ale ok
and the white ipa was horrible

What are the names of these Stone variety packs? I can ask my local liquor store to carry them. Anything w/ the name Stone attached to MUST be awesome.

The first was the stone mixed 4 pack with bombers of arrogant bastard, self righteous, Russian imperial and stone IPA. Then I found one at the same store that was called the Stone Bastard Box. It had 4 bombers of arrogant bastard, double Bastard, lucky bastard and a bourbon barrel aged arrogant bastard. That one was amazing!

I will be grabbing up more than one of those boxes if I ever get the chance again.

My go to variety pack is The Big Show by Great Divide. Usually you get Yeti, Hibernation, Orabelle and Colette.. Just picked up a case yesterday and it had Yeti, Espresso oaked aged Yeti, Hibernation and Orabelle.....Can never go wrong with that

Stone mixed 12 pack is by far the best variety case out there in both quality and value, plus if its purcased witin the enjoy by date its always fresh. No guessing game or searching for a code or date, it puts it right out there; I'm fresh. Plus they sell so quickly that you don't have to worry about that anyway! This year's line up is amazing. Delicious, Belgie, Arrogant and Ruin. I do wish though that Oaked Bastard would have returned because we had regular Bastard in last year's variety.

Sierra Nevada mixed pack honorable mention, when fresh.

Like others have said, Stone is by far the best mix pack IMO. Victory and Troegs also have solid ones. Green Flash had a nice one as well

Great Lakes. There are those who believe that Burning River is a weak link in that pack but I disagree, assuming the beer isn't approaching it's drink by date.

Excuse my ignorance.... it can be hard to get Stone where I live. Did they discontinue Sublimely Self-righteous? Because it is still featured on their web page.
