At that price I'm not surprised. I'll buy FW Proprietors Vintage series bottles anytime I see them but $25 is about the most I would pay for one..

Bars in NYC are really out to rip customers off.

Last week a friend paid $32 plus tip for a bottle Eternal Sunshine at Torst (Mikkeler's Brothers).

That same week I paid $10 for the exact same bottle at a bottle shop next the bus station in Central Philadelphia.

Granted there is a slight mark up in a bar for their hospitality. I don't think that Union Distributors is selling these to Torst for $16 a bottle.

NY is crazy sometimes because they mark things up so high. Businesses are out to squeeze every last nickel outta you.

As consumers you really have to do your research, and use sites like beermenus to compare prices.

Do some research on the beers you would like to buy before you go out and get ripped off.

DBGB wanted $33 for Speedway, I could walk down to Whole Foods and buy it for $12, insane!
The best deal i ever saw was Pony Bar in Westchester, they had 16oz pours of 120 Minute for $8 few years back. It was insane.

Thats is quite the price. I can get it all day long here in Cali for 9.99.

120 just made it to a spot near me on tap. $12 for a 10oz pour. Good beer but I couldn't justify a second pour at that price for what it was.

BCBS and BCBW hit a local spot on draft a little while ago for a dollar an ounce. I happily bough many and was sad when the keg tapped and that the coffee tapped before I got there.
The best beer I have tried. I need to get my hands on a coffee version.

My recollection is that some of those excellent St. Bernardus beers (Abt 12, for instance), are around $4-$5.90 wholesale in Washington. Having recently lived in Minneapolis for a few years, then (re)relocated to Seattle, I'd say $25 or so is probably fair in either place.

I'm lucky I don't love BA stouts, but when I see 10+$ bombers of IPA have to shake my head. So many great IPAs are 10$ for a 6er, I just can't justify a 13$ bomber (full disclosure: i do give in to temptation more often than id like tho)

I love good beer but you will never catch me buying a bomber over $8 bucks or any 6 pack for over $16 bucks. Fucc all that I still drink good beer for a low price, no need to spend that much on beer when some of the cheaper shit is on par or better than some of the pricey shit.

If the prices were ridiculous, people would stop buying them. Since people stand in line for some of this stuff and it sells out in a day, apparently it's still under-priced.

I would be happy to pay 20/25 $$ for a for a bomber of BA Bigfoot. At least once.

Good day, Sir! How's the weather in Ontario? Too much snow here in New Brunswick :stuck_out_tongue:

For the most part, you usually do get what you've paid for but unfortunately that isn't always the case. I haven't cracked into a St. Bernardus yet but from what I hear it should be worth every penny I paid.

Is paying $4 for 11-12 oz of a world class 10% ABV beer that was imported really that outrageous?

At pubs in Boston a bottle of bud light will run you the same amount.

It is hard for me to pay anything above ~$.50 per 0z. but in some cases I will pay more. the most I've paid is 16$ for an 8 oz. bottle... never again. but soon I will be buying a very special hopefully unknown to the masses beer that will be 500ml for $16.

That's about spot on for that beer. Could be a LITTLE cheaper, but not THAT bad

Black Ops, Black Ops, Black Ops!! Paid $23 bucks for that thing and it was almost a drain pour.... Never waste your money on that beer. Go pick up some Big Bad Baptist for 1/2 the price, 3x the quality!
