Is there an official DNT function on this site or do you all just keep lists of people you don't want to trade with. I think it would be a good function if you could add usernames to a list on your profile if it isn't an official function yet

You could add names to your profile under the about you section. There is no official list as that is the function the trade requests are meant to serve but most keep personal lists in Word/Excel etc

I keep a personal private Google Sheet with usernames and associated reasons.

I just started the same thing with a list of 3 names so far

We should just share our own community DNT.. a spreadsheet with names and hyperlinks to the associated thread or whatever reason that the person got put on there. That way people can look at it and make their own conclusions.

This is a very, very good idea.

In principal a good idea but very dangerous as it can be very subjective and will lack moderation to ensure people don't get smeared when it is not warranted. The feedback system is supposed to do this although what it doesn't account for is activity before a trade is agreed upon through system.

    Totally agree.

I'd add that people may use their "DNT" list for different things. For example, I don't use it for shady traders who've been called out (I can just use the search function), but I do use it for people who've tried to pull shit in private trades with me (changing terms or asking for more after getting a different offer), continually threadshit on peoples ISO:FT threads, & just generally act like wankers. My wanker my be somebody else's BFF.

Not to mention that some people are on other's DNT list based on a personal dislike for that particular person, not necessarily because they are a bad trader.

Or read the persons feedback and decide from that. Probably why that function exists on the site. No need to add to the negativity. There's already a bad traders sub forum.

Meh. Maybe not a public DNT, I did already have a few beers when I wrote that post. But I'd wonder if it was worth circulating a list in private amongst folks who trade as often as we do. I've seen enough threads that don't quite qualify for "Bad Traders", where nobody was out any beer but where someone acted shady enough that I wouldn't want to deal with someone. Luckily, I've been able to avoid all of these people. It's clear that they are out there though, I highly doubt anyone would argue against that. A central semi-public list (also with bad traders' names and city/state, as has been getting posted by mods in Bad Traders threads) could also work towards self-policing. But I agree that whole idea (witch hunt!) is fraught with problems, which is why it won't happen.

I almost made a DNT but apparently I don't even make the cut for notoriety<sob>.

BM I rec'd when yoitsarch was hosed *ahem*herbed:
Heyyoo I'm glad to see you just completed a trade with yoitsarch. I'm trying to send him something and he's refusing it. Can you give me his address?Thank you!

    My reply:
    I can't.
    1) I don't give out PI without permission
    2) My trade was sometime back. His address might be different
    3) I understand & actually agree with his refusal to accept consolation packages. As such, I think it should be respected.

Consider doing a giveaway bif instead which you could you're to financial circumstances, military service, combat vet, inexperienced BA or anything that resonates with you.

I'm not trying to be snarky or difficult. It's very kind & generous that you are so eager to help, but I both understand & respect yoitsarch's refusal to accept your generosity.

    Cheers,
    (name redacted)

And today I hear from him once more...
Just a quick update:I hooked up "yoitsarch" big time and he loved it,matter of fact he hooked up one of my good traders in return.

If I had a DNT trade list you'd be on it

It hurts, really, really hurts, that I'm so inconsequential I can't even make it onto someone's non-existent DNT list. I will be crying myself to sleep, ripping my hair out & kicking the neighbor's dog because pain of this magnitude can't be borne stoically.

I do have an itsy bitsy, rarely referenced, DNT list that I struggle to more or less remember. Ftr, I won't be expanding it to include rank silliness & anemic snark.

The feedback system is seriously flawed at this point. Many traders are reluctant to put in negative or neutral feedback when it's warranted.

Buttesnake, why is that? Todd & F2 have repeatedly stated that retaliatory feedback won't be tolerated. They've proven they're adamant about this by promptly banning members who pulled that shit & deleting the retaliatory fb.

@JavaNoire what constitutes retaliatory feedback? Example?

Retaliatory feedback is when you do everything fine, they don't and when you leave bad feedback they leave you bad feedback as well. If you can prove you got retaliatory feedback, they will be banned and the feedback will be expunged from your record.
Ie no blackmailing you for better feedback.
I know of a few traders that didn't leave bad feedback because the other trader threw in world class extras. This is one way that the system is flawed. The other trader fell off the face of the earth for two weeks, but he gave me a vr as an extra, so it's OK. That kills the system to me

I've seen it numerous times in the bad trader threads. Members are reluctant to leave bad/neutral feedback even when they've been jerked around. Often a bad trader has done something shady with past trade partners prior to that but nobody bothered to document the borderline behavior that often leads to outright stealing down the line.

And it seems many users aren't familiar with the rules regarding retaliatory feedback.
