Exactly, it's not a craft beer festival. Just drink what they have.

I don't think drinking bud light or miller lite for a few hours is going to kill you. Seems rude to me to just BYOB unless it was a request of the bride/groom to do so. More importantly though it's probably illegal to bring outside alcohol into the reception hall. I'd hate to be the reason the security deposit was kept because I couldn't just drink bud / sam adams / heineken for a four hours (I have no idea if that would happen, but just making a point).

I am mostly with the majority here.

If you are the groom or groomsman and bring something to share and celebrate (the whole point of a wedding, right?) that is fine with me.

If you are a "normal" guest, even if it is a good friend of yours, you are a normal guest. No to bringing your own beer. And although I am guessing you might share some of it, but no, to bring some nice bottles of beer to pour for yourself and to drink throughout the day, sorry, no.

Suck it up, and drink what they have. They are providing this to you, as a guest, as a courtesy, deal with it. You can claim "this crowd" won't care etc as much as you want, but no, it is inconsiderate to the hosts.

Flasks fall into different categories in my mind. They are usually used for pregame, or during groomsman photos which is when i was happy to have brought one last time (it was freaking cold, the bridesmaids in sleeveless dresses were super happy for some whiskey). Not so you can secretly drink your pappy all night because the bar liquor disgusts you.

I have been lucky at the last couple weddings to either have some craft beer choices at the bar, Great lakes, etc, or a North Peak keg of Diabolical since it was the grooms favorite.

Good point. I think in PA it is actually illegal. Similar to bringing your own beer to a bar.

So bringing something like a bottle of fine champagne as a gift to the after party is socially acceptable (I've seen it done before at multiple weddings), but bring a good bottle of Parabola or Bourbon county is in poor taste? Please.....

When you say after party do you mean reception? Or do you mean hanging out at the hotel after the whole thing is over?

Also bringing a bottle of champagne as a gift for the bride and groom is not the same as bringing a bomber for you to pour yourself a couple of drinks under the table because you think the beer options won't be up to your standards.

Beer to crack seems like a pretty quick escalation.

Like you said though, gift. If the Parabola was a gift for the bride and/or groom because you know they like good beer, then that's a different story entirely.

However bringing beer to consume yourself, just because what's on offer is not up to scratch - that's just naff

Yes. Bringing it to consume yourself under the table or by yourself is bad/tasteless move for sure. I'm under the impression that OP is talking about after party or reception, cracking a fine beer and sharing with the groom/bride and friends. That's what i would do.

This is the exact opposite of what the OP is talking about.
    Enjoy your wedding

    From the OP:

and I wan't to bring something (maybe 2) to drink so I don't have to succumb to the weddings choices.

I believe we are talking about the actual reception. Not a pre reception or post reception gathering.
