Lol. Sounds yummy but I would hardly call that mixture a "poor mans" anything.

Anyway, KBS around Livingston county at $8 a bottle today. Found it in 3 locations. 2 required other purchase, one did not.

Yeah, I passed on it at Bev Cellar when I found I was required to buy something else. I know why they do it, I just don't like to be compelled especially at near 100% markup.

What stores required you to make another purchase?

Saw my first KBS for sale this year, and it was $15/bottle. Asked the guy at the counter if that was correct. He said "yes" as if it would be obvious to all it would sell at that price. I proceeded to walk out without saying anything.

Just picked up 8 four packs for $20 a four pack. I'm not quiet sure how many is too many to buy.

Beverage Cellar did, 23 Place didn't (great guys there), don't know what other store he was talking about.

Canopy made you buy a Big Lushious at $20. I passed, especially since I know where this still sits for $12. Bev Cellar asked you to buy any another Founders product. Prices are ok here so I picked up a 6er of something I'll drink. Jonnas in Howell actually did not require. I'm going to have to look into 23 Place.

Do I want to know how much Jonnas was charging? I usually don't bother stopping there or Canopy.

I'll be up near Muskegon, montague to be exact, today visiting my grandparents. Will I have any luck finding any in my way up from Chicago?

The price gouging will be rampant here on the East Coast as well, when it arrives:angry:

When does it hit the shelves outside of Michigan? I've read "starting" 3/30 - but does that mean it starts leaving founders on that date or that's when it'll start appearing at retail?

It always varies due to distributors.

I don't think hoarding is the right word in response to your initial question, which was 'when is too much?' There are several ways to look at an answer for 'too much.'
    1. Buy as much as the retailer will let you, just because you can, even though it seems excessive. Maybe you're a trader and can get some good beers in exchange while spreading your 'wealth.' (But don't brag about it or gloat at the great price that you got.)
    2. Buy the stated limit of the retailer, then go out to your car, change your coat and hat, maybe other appearance changes and go back in and try for a second limit. And while you are busy doing that, see if you can find someone to bribe to go in with you so you can get their limit too. And also while you're at it, call your non-beer-loving friends to come and do the same, etc, etc, etc.
    3. OR, if the retailer has no limit, buy a fair amount for your own use and then be a beer advocate and leave some for the rest of us to have a crack at getting some of the beer. If you have friends who you know would be interested in getting some, call them to see if you can buy for them, or so they can get to the store quickly themselves. Or post right away on BA where you found a honey hole, and see if you make friends and get likes instead of receiving sarcastic comments.
You are a newbie here on the BA site and are probably unaware of advocacy 'procedures' based on your original question, so there's a polite learning lesson for you.:slight_smile:

I can't speak for Ohio but I know the Chicagoland area is having a bunch of release parties on 3/30 (mostly tappings at bars but some bottle releases as well). Like @steebo777 said, it varies by distributor.
