I recently discovered a bottle of Sam Adams Triple bock in my basement, purple bottle, 21 yrs. old. A buddy gave it to be to cellar a long time ago. Label says it was brewed with maple syrup. Any info. on this stuff?

are you planning on drinking this? I personally loked the stuff when it was fresh bac in mid 90's. I didn't mind the soy sauce notes. I'd like to know how it tastes with 20+ years on it!

Sure. I suggest you open it, pour it very carefully, only about half of the bottle. And then pour both the glass and the bottle down the drain.
Or strain off the solid stuff and use it in a batch of fried rice.

I have a bottle from 94 that my dad bought and I plan on opening it next week. I had a bottle from 97 I had 3 years ago and it was pretty awful. I'll let you know how it goes.

The smell is all soy sauce. The taste is almost sickeningly sweet, followed by something sour. I almost gaged on the first sip.

I agree about enjoying the soy sauce notes. Two buddies and I shared a bottle of this back in '94, and we loved it. I still have the empty bottle. It'd be interesting to see what it's like with 21 years of aging!

Oh, I'm sorry! It's not as trade worthy as a leftover Heady Topper from the '75 Skynyrd Tour that's been dwelling in my "cellar" AKA my broom closet for over 20 years !!! Drink it, the porcelain will love you in the morning !!!

Hold up. You joined BA in 2005. You've never rated or reviewed a beer in 10 years and your first post was in 2012. Now you're asking about a beer from 1994? Does not compute.
