Top Five Coffee Beers

    i love this style, would love to hear the favorites of my fellow BA's. No additional flavors, aside from barrel aging.just coffee. Here's my top five, in order.
    1.Alesmith Vietnamese Coffee
    2.BCBCS
    3.Perennial Sump
    4. Boulevard Imperial x Coffee
    5. Avery Tweak

    So barrel-aged doesn't count as an addition flavor?

    not in my opinion. barrels may impart flavors but there aren't other additives like cocoa beans, cinnamon, etc.

    I know it's only four, I would have added Ten Fidy, but I get other flavors from it.

    Stone Espresso IRS has been my favorite coffee beer thus far.

    Peche Mortel is great as well.

    Barrels adding flavor would be an ingredient then, correct? If its "adding" to the beer, how is it not an ingredient? Wood tannins, oak flavor, previous boozes, etc....all add to the beer. I would argue it is very much an ingredient!!! If it wasn't, then why use it? I mean, we could break it down to the chemical compounds transferring from the barrel to the beer, or just keep it simple and just say flavor transfer. Either way, the wood is doing and adding to the procedure, thus a viable and important ingredient!

    I'm having a heard time picking a top 5, but I am surprised Brunch Weasel Isn't mentioned. It blew me away.

    Also Peche mortel for sure
