Just saw on Stone's twitter that this has started to hit shelves today. Searched and didn't see another thread for it.

The chai spice is weird. Wish I would have just bought the regular instead.

I've actually picked up on a kind of chai-like character before in one of my favorite imperial stouts which, to my knowledge, isn't brewed with it.

As one who enjoys both stouts and chai tea, I am enthused. Nice logical progression moving from coffee ('13) to tea ('15) as an odd IRS variation, hehe.

If Indra Kunindra is any indication, this variation will be awful.

Awesome! I definitely need to stop by Binny's this week.

I think I will do the same thing that I did with this year's Old Guardian. Grab 1 of each for immediate consumption and comparison and 2 extra of the regular to cellar for verticals.

Chai stout isn't something I'd consider drinking. I'd consider cooking with it however.

Always excited for the regular IRS release. Especially because I have several vintage bottles. Everyone knows the last odd beer, espresso IRS was great, so Ill try them both.

I was really excited to try this but ended up being disappointed. The spices were overdone and there wasn't much character left from the original. Really tasted like an imperial pumpkin stout. I normally like heavily spiced beers and all kinds of pumpkin beers but like I said, it was missing the roastiness/burnt character of the original. Not a bad beer at all, just not on the level of say, the Espresso variant.

The chai variant sounds intriguing, any reports on this vintage of it yet?

Any ideas when it is shipped, or hitting shelves in orange county?

I'm not sure I understand this comment. The spices in Indra Kunindra are vastly different than Chai spices.

Edit: and I'm really looking forward to this odd-year release. I think the chai will play nicely off the base IRS.
