Just saw this, thought I'd share. Since this isn't really "news" I figured it's more appropriate in the general Beer Talk forum. Feel free to discuss.

The explosion of craft beer in the US has given us close to 2,000 operating breweries and brewpubs. There are now dozens of breweries in states that, just a few short years ago, might have only had one or two. That fact, combined with my love of inane lists, inspired me to research one of the single most useless topics we’ve ever tackled at Aleheads (and that’s saying something). I wanted to know which beer was the “best” from each of the 50 states (plus the District of Columbia). That list is below...

Certainly can't argue with their pick for Washington, BBomb was easily among my favorite beers this year, from anywhere. (Don't tell anyone, or people will start wanting to trade for it.)

    Cheers!

Interesting. I'm in a little disagreement with my state of NJ. Whoever decided these clearly has never had Kane Head High IPA..the others as far as I can tell look about right. Good find, sir.

Not sure if I can agree with saying that Capitol City Brewing is the best brewery in Virginia.

Entertaining. I especially like "already incredibly Mephistopheles". Grammar error aside, that seems somehow appropriate.

Great pick for Hawaii. I had it last time I was at Maui Brew Co. and it is quite good.

100 percent right in picking Toppling Goliath for Iowa. Although, I personally would have picked Zeelander or Naughty 90.

While I do agree with this list (can't argue with the taste of rare), I wish they'd do a list of beers brewed in each state that are easy to come by (or at least those that you don't have to sacrifice your first born to get).

That was a nice read. I've only had a few of the beers listed. Anyone want to send me all the others?

Jade is the best IPA brewed in the state, but Olde Hickory makes some great BA Stouts as does Foothills BA Sexual Chocolate.

I agree I do like Head High the best out of all the brewed beers out of NJ but I think Ramstein is a better brewery. I think alot of people may have alot to say about Pennsylvanias as well though! The beauty of palettes!

These lists are BS, but at least the author acknowledges that in his intro. Bohdi's not the best beer in Ohio, but it's pretty good.

This list should be called "The Best Bourbon-Barrel Aged Stout in Each State."

Oh boy...I totally DISAGREE with Ohio's Best Beer....actually i completely disagree with the idea of labeling the "Best Beers" by state..there are too many styles to compete for this and given the many good breweries available in many states (ie MI, PA, OH, CA, VT,etc) makes this argument even more difficult. But i digress and I'll play along. Ohio's 'Best Beer' Columbus Bodhi is an outstanding example of a DIPA. However, you're telling me that Fat Head's Head Hunter and The Brew Kettle's White Rajah arent better. Both of those examples have national and international awards. And let's not forget these: GLBC Blackout Stout and Hoppin' Frog BORIS/DORIS. I think they should do "Best Beers by Styles" for each state....that would make for better reading and arguments.

    Cheers

Olde Frosty isn't even my favorite Selin's Grove IPA, let alone my favorite beer from them or in the state.

Agreed and I would expect Older Rabbit's Foot or Event Horizon to take #1 for NC.

That list is merely the opinion of one or a few that have not likely tried every beer from every state.
