As others have said, I have no problem with it and have done it a time or two myself. I've even dragged my brother and father with me on a shopping trip or two to make sure I get an extra bottle or two. Of course I then share those bottles with them as they were kind enough to mule for me! Always share, never hoard!

Technically if the store established a limit per costumer it is to try and spread the love around. By going back, your stealing a bottle from someone else who may have never had it before.

That said, like others, I have done it numerous times. While I might not go back the same day, I definitely bring extra people along to ensure a nice haul! That's both beneficial and ethically legal !

Yep, that's pretty much exactly my thought on the subject.

Next day, yes. If they have a bottle limit and it isn't gone within an hour it means they overestimated demand.

Sending in a mule to get another bottle is not acceptable.

OP, if you wouldn't feel comfortable asking an employee if it's ok, then it's probably not ok.

I buy way more beer than I should. A stupid amount. Imports, American craft sixers, macros, sought after beers, overpriced bottles, etc. Been doing it for over a decade. I've never been in a situation where beer-nerd ethics have entered into the equation of buying something. I just pick what I want, take it to the counter, pay and leave. I've never had a store employee tell me I was buying too much, and I've never had to question if I was doing something "wrong." It's no different than me buying eggs or cabbage. I hope this never changes.

@BenwayPHD , I'm sorry for posting in your thread without answering your question. I think it's cool that you asked your question. Just wanted to express that it's easy to drink lots of good beer and not get caught up in this stuff.

One bottle the first day the next day it should be first come first serve.

Truth bomb: If you want another bottle the next day enough to go back to the store and patronize that store, only the most dimwitted shop owner would discourage that practice. And only the most disingenuous and self-righteous among us would frown on that. This isn't about cutting lines at a limited release. It's not about walking out and walking right back in. It's not about sending a team of mules into the store to wipe out the stock. It's being a repeat customer at a store in a capitalist system.

I'm all for spreading the love and all that jazz in the interest of beer karma and unicorns, but give me a break. And get me a beer. Then go back tomorrow and get me another one.

If you go back the next day and they actually still have some left (doubtful if its that sought after) then sure, pick up another.

Whats not ok is getting a bottle, then changing clothes or putting on a disguise and going back for more like some of these pieces of absolute human waste gutter trash we've been hearing about

I don't see a problem with going back the next day. That gives other customers time to get some. If it's a limited release, and I assume it would be if there was a limit, I wouldn't expect it to last long anyway. Anyone that really wanted a bottle would make sure to get there ASAP.

Follow the golden rule. Don't be selfish and don't be a dick. Whether to wait a day or a week, that is up for debate. But reading stories of people gobbling up every last bottle of stuff because they can is really selfish.

My analogy is if you were at a party and there were 6 shrimp on a plate and that was all that was left, would you grab all 6 and tell the person standing behind you too bad I grabbed the rest and you are SOL? I doubt it, so the same thing should apply here, only difference the person standing behind you may not be behind you, could be two hours later where you dont have to come face to face with the person.

I wish I could do this, the store near me only has like 5 employees and they all know me too well to try and get another the next day. If it is that limited i'll get one but if it's not that limited I just go to ABC or TW right after and get my one bottle there too.

Local shop here generally says as long as it's been on the shelf for a day, it's relatively fair game. The point of the limit is to make sure someone doesn't buy it all up before others get a chance. Figure after 24-48 hours, everyone that's really interested has had a chance at one.

I generally agree in principle, but your analogy doesn't work. A party is a social gathering where, presumably, the shrimp are provided free of charge by your host for all of the guests' enjoyment. Beer is for sale at a store to generate income for the store, the distributor, and the brewery. For these reasons, different rules apply to these scenarios.

Still, don't be selfish and don't be a dick is a pretty good rule of thumb to live by.

Haven't ever had the need to. There's plenty of beer for sale wherever I choose to buy, and nothing is so spectacularly superior that warrants me wasting my time like that.

I thought about once,, but was too lazy. My wife even volunteered to back the next day. As long as I get one, I'm happy...Too much great beer to worry about it...Plus, I got a life..
