I'm curious how police can influence the sale of pkg beer sales.

Because politicians legislate, and police enforce, and Indiana has terrible liquor laws. Not the worst, but pretty awful. Don't try to find Three Floyds on Sunday unless you go to the brewery. The liquor stores are closed and the groceries won't sell to you.

Excise police. The group charged with enforcing laws on alcohol.

Looks like the FFF website FAQ is now updated. It does confirm $20 for DL, no package sales, backpacks permitted, etc., etc.

What is the difference between "package sales" and buying bottles of Dark Lord? How does the law differentiate between the two exactly?

Likely because it's a permit-based event, so they can write the rules however they want.

Wasn't anticipating 2 stages this year. There has to be more bands or Big Freedia will get awfully lonely out there.

Permit: Legal document that lets you break the law in exchange for undisclosed sums of money.

But, seriously, FFF's legal team likely worked with the state and cut some sort of deal and make the event happen. The language in the new FAQ about bringing unavailable bottles is likely part of that (no cases of Coors), as is the rule about package sales (no buying a case of ZD that you turn around and crack open). Dark Lord sales get a pass because, well, that's how they wrote the permit.

I just read that part and found the wording very interesting. Per the DLD FAQ page:

CAN I BRING MY OWN BEER?

We allow people to bring limited amounts of beer for trading and sampling with other beer lovers. The idea is to celebrate craft beer, so we ask that you only bring in beers that are unique – ones that can’t be found just anywhere. Please no beers that can be found at any corner market. No coolers will be allowed on the property.

So, what they're saying is keep your petty shelf turd beers at home. Only whalez allowed!!

Just glad it doesn't say "Please no beers that can be found at any corner market in Dekalb". Ah, you're missed Playa.
