I have seen a lot of complaining about bombers in threads, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone openly support the bomber format. At best, people seem indifferent. Personally, I'm not a fan and only buy them if they are cheap or a beer I really want is only available in a bomber.

I would prefer 12 or 16 oz. cans or bottles, but there are a lot of beers that are only available in bombers, unless you can find them on tap somewhere.

While they are a perfect size to share with someone, they are obviously more expensive, so there's a good and bad side to them in my opinion. If they were more reasonably priced I'd maybe go so far as to say they were my favorite format.

For whatever reason, I sometimes buy into the idea that large format bottles somehow signify a luxury product. It's a dangerous mindset that has led to me buying some very below average beers at a premium price. But, there is something special about nursing a high abv bomber for a few hours, seeing how it changes as it warms.

I think the format is here to stay, although I will always prefer a 12oz bottle. I buy em when I want what is on the inside, but breweries know they can charge more per ounce, and so they do... and I buy... I mean, I wish Parabola was in a 12oz 4 pack, but I still snapped up all I could find in 22oz bombers and did a little victory dance when I found it.

I don't mind bombers and realistically if we switch to 500ml they'll just charge the bomber price

I voted OTHER. My reasoning: The larger the bottle, the better it ages. For big stouts, wilds, and lambics that I intend to age, I like bomber/750s. That said, I like the option to get 12oz/375ml. While I like the large formats to age, I also want to buy stuff to drink right away and/or by myself. I think the trend of releasing beer in both 4/6 pack AND bomber/750 is perfect. As a price-per-ounce, 4/6 packs are ALWAYS a much much better value for some reason. When BCBS tried bombers in '09, it was $0.42 per-ounce with 4 separate servings vs $0.68 per-ounce for a one serving (bottle). My friends and I bought a few bombers to age, but stuck otherwise with the 4-packs. It's win win.

22oz bombers are the perfect size for me. Usually if I have two of them, it's on the weekend. But it's perfect for a share and also perfect for just one.

Easier to recycle one or two bottles than a six pack. Also I buy into the idea that the bomber must be the brewery's top line of beer.

I prefer 750's and 40's. I'll buy beer whatever the Serving size is. Unless it's a 2 ounce serving for 10dollars. That shit better be orgasmic.

No problem with 'em. Plus, I like it better as a split option with the wife rather than just a bottle.

As @ILMbrew stated above, "there is something special about nursing a high abv bomber for a few hours, seeing how it changes as it warms," this is why I love imperial stouts in large format bottles. Seeing how the beer's flavors change and develop over the time it takes to drink the bottle. Besides I like that when I'm drinking the bottle by myself, I get two mostly full glasses without "having to get up" for my second bottle, and when I'm sharing, it's fun that two full glasses come out of the same bottle.

All that being said, I understand the discussion about how difficult they can be to drink my oneself, especially the high ABV beers, and the discussion about price points.

In the end though I voted that while I prefer other formats, I don't mind large format beers.

I'm new to the craft beer scene and am trying a lot of different beer styles for the 1st time. Yeah, bombers are more expensive per ounce but I can try a lot more varieties going the bomber route. Plus, I don't like waste and find it easier to polish off 22 ounces of something I don't like vs 48-72 oz of a undesirable 4 or 6-pack.

I like having options - and certain styles/types of beer seem to work as well or better as bombers or 750mL. I actually have a bigger problem with the more common 6-packs of 12oz bottles/cans. Most of the time a 2 or 4 pack of 12oz bottles is what I'm looking for. Unfortunately most of the beers that do come in 4 packs are in the $12-24 dollar range... I guess that's what sharing/trading is for.

No problem with them. Some breweries probably dont produce enough of a certain beer to warrant distribution in six packs and limiting the beer to bombers is likely the only way to get the beer to a wide consumer base.

I can say my favorite beers I've ever had have come in bombers.

I don't like the Bomber format, the only Bombers I buy are Toppling Goliath and Black Husky and that's very rarely and the only format I can get beers from those breweries
