Beer when congested.

I drink beer for the taste, not to get drunk. And I can't taste beer when I'm congested. So I feel like I am wasting the beer, and not enjoying them for their full potential.

 

I drink enough high alpha acid high hopped beers to not get sick.
But seriously I haven been sick in 2 years. Previously I'd get a sinus infection on a regular basis in spring and fall at minimum. I think my system has built up an ammunity since I'm in and out of restaurants and around people sick all the time. Just wash my hands and excersise regularly. Totally off topic but definetly wouldn't drink good beers if any at all if I was that sick. IMO kind of ridiculous to ask the question since the whole experience is based on your sense of smell.

If it's a new beer for me, I wait. If I've had it before, I'll drink whatever is good.

 

Time to drink the beers in fridge that aren't really that good. Time to clean out the fridge!

I do not drink at all. Alcohol depresses your immune system so it stands to reason that it will only make your ailment worse.

 

Same here, if I enjoy several IPAs/IIPAs in a row my nose and sinuses get back up with a lot of beer mucus, only really hoppy beers though.

 

I normally drink whiskey or a big stout when congested. depending on the level of congestion you are going to want between 10-20%abv to ease the pain and help you sleep. so like KBS up to Black Tuesday

 

Give yourself another 6 or 7 years and you will start accepting your own mortality and no way would you have made the same choice.

 

I usually don't drink anything if I'm sick, and just wait until I'm feeling better.

 

Being "congested" isn't the same as being sick.

 

I try to drink consistently in all situations... *maintaining homeostasis*

Good point you do have to maintain total body equilibrium.

 

Generally don't bother wasting beers when I'm stuffed up, but sometimes if I have a bottle of a beer I don't really care for (but isn't bad enough to justify a drainpour) floating around I'll drink it to get rid of it when I won't taste it as much.

 

Pale Ales were made for congestion

 

I refuse to believe a single fresh IPA will keep your body from fighting off a cold or infection. If I have a cold and there's a fresh Pliny in the fridge.... Bottoms up and off to bed.
