Flavors of stouts seems to be endless. Cinnamon, fruit, coffee, maple, etc etc.

What do you like most and what beer in particular?
Give me that Perennial Abraxas or Bourbon County Coffee!

If I want a Stout or a Porter, I'd rather not have any flavours added to the base recipe. The thing I really enjoy about those styles is the dark chocolate and coffee-like roastiness and I feel that extra flavours really take away from that experience. If I want something sweeter, I go for an Oatmeal stout, not a Cinnamon Maple Stout.

To each his own, I suppose.

Vanilla, coffee and bourbon in that order.

I love just a regular/solid stout. But there are some good chocolate/coconut ones that I really enjoyed.

Don't get too cute with anything. Just keep it simple.

Edit: and I really like oatmeal stouts

The ones that have beer in them.

More than anything, I like a strong roast profile to my stouts.

As for non-traditional flavors, I'd say coffee for sure is my favorite.

In a stout, the bitter chocolate + dark fruit combo is my favorite.

I enjoy stout with no "extra" ingredients, but I also love chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and barrel-aged varieties. I do think some stouts get a little too cute with the additional ingredients, but to each his own.

Are you talking about flavor components common in stouts, or ingredients added to supplement flavor?

    Coffee, vanilla, and/or maple.

Anyone who says "nothing" has never tried a good adjunct stout.

Sounds great, I'd be all over that one, too!!

As for the OP's question...oatmeal for sure, chocolate, heck yeah!! Love a good old plain stout too, but, experimenting with flavors/taste is half the fun of drinking craft brews.

Anyone who says they dislike flavors in a stout must also admit that they don't like Xocoveza. It has a lot of flavors in it.

I mean, I like a good standard stout (like SN which is wonderful), but coffee and chocolate (and pumpkin!) can add a lot!
