You know some of these people probably worked their asses off to have a great career that allows them to spend as much money on beer as they'd like. Why does that bother so many of you?

What's your remaining 0.1%? Natty Light

I know people who spend $1000+ a month on expensive wines (being that it runs a lot higher price than beer). Everyone has their passions and hobbies I guess.

Personally I wouldn't want to have multiple "whale tastings" in a week. Makes it less special. I could pull out a barrel aged beer every night for a month or so, but I'm sure my meager cellar (closet) of entry-level whales would deplete way faster than I could restock it.

If you own a bottle shop or are in a bottle share club, whalez are pretty common. The local bottle shop owner near my house saves 2 of every whale for himself and cracks them open in the store all the time for randoms to enjoy

They get you to follow them on Instagram so I guess they win. They are looking to accomplish what is currently happening, using social media to spread their internet presence. Good bad or otherwise we are talking about them haha

to be honest, could give a rat's ass what others are drinking. I hope they enjoy their beer and not miss the money they spent on it.

31Sam13 I think has it nailed. While it can be easy to be jealous in some cases, it is much more then that. For me, I have desire for any whales what so ever, and I like to advocate less drinking in my life though I am plunging head way to be a Cicerone.

I think it worries me more that if you do drink a lot the effect it will have on your body regardless of how well you take care of yourself or even the fact that what you are drinking is a great product. Our bodies are amazing but pushing it too far will have ramifications later whether we want them our not.

I have "friends" that drink with me less often because I don't waste money on the rare garbage anymore. It's no biggie to me, as I am more than ok with shelf beers and local draft beer... took me a while to learn though.

Yep, that's where I'm at now (hockey kid). I've built up a decent cellar that will get me through the next five years I hope of having one "something special" every few months! What really sucks is going to tournaments where some real great beer is hanging out and only spending like $10 all weekend instead of the couple bills I'd love to drop. God help me if we travel to Vermont!!!

We had a little share a couple months ago...3 people. People got pretty uptight when they saw the picture.

The thing is, we're local, so we paid retail for all that super expensive stuff, so it was just drinking beer. It's only beer; drink it.

People care way too much about looking cool and making people envy their lives on social media. That carries over into the beer world. One of people's favorite things to do is post their beer hauls that are actually a combined haul from them and like 3 or 4 other people.

That's actually cool. I thought TG had put in place some kind of law where you're not allowed to have more than a 2 ounce pour of their stouts, but you guys each drank an entire 12 oz bottle of KBBS (OMG 12 ounces of beer, so insane!!!)

I'm not familiar with such a law. I've had multiple 12oz bottles and even more assassin bombers, but I usually share those with friends. Hell, I got a growler of Norseman's Wrath up there once. They had KBBS on tap that day. It was a new experiment then and had never been bottled. I found it to be quite tasty, even then.
