    Hey all,

I am going to be running the Boston Marathon in a couple weeks. Staying with aunt and uncle in Derry. I won't be drinking anything all weekend (collecting and shipping a bunch back but no drinking) but will get after it hard Monday after the race before returning to Iowa Tuesday morning.

Where is the best place to grab great taps in Derry? Hopefully somewhere will have MBC or something good on tap?

    Thanks!

yea, I thought of Cask and Vine when I saw this post. I was in the area last winter and grabbed a few quality pints there. At the time, they had Enjoy By and Smutty Imperial Stout on tap. It wouldn't be a stretch that they'd have MBC on.

Kelsen is in Derry. Fairly new brewery. I doubt the taproom is open on a Monday. But I would imagine they have tap lines somewhere in immediate the area.

I live in Derry. We have Cask & Vine, an excellent bar and restaurant with 12 rotating taps of quality craft selections, and we also have four breweries within ten minutes of downtown. Unfortunately Cask & Vine as well as all four breweries would be closed on a Monday, so you'd be out of luck. If you're looking to grab some quality craft pints on Monday and you have access to a car (and a DD), you could head north to Manchester or south to Haverhill - about 20 minutes either way. You could also head out to Portsmouth - about 45 minutes from Derry - or just stay down in Boston.

If you're looking to pick up bottles to take home over the weekend, The Drinkery in downtown Derry would be your best bet. They also have a location in Londonderry, where you'll also find Lazy Dog Beer Shoppe. The four breweries in town - Kelsen and Rockingham in Derry, From The Barrel and 603 in Londonderry - also sell bottles/cans and growlers. They're all within 10 minutes of downtown Derry and would be open on Saturday but closed on Sunday.

This is all great info, I appreciate it!
Looks like I kind of picked a cruddy time frame to go.

My parents are sticking around the NE and going to Maine on Wednesday. Looks like I'm going to have to have my dad mule me a bag back.

Not sure if you have been to Boston before for marathon. But Sam Adams 26.2 is a beer worth seeking out when in town. Its usually Boston only. So really does not fit into your no drinking schedule before you run. But its a very good gose and probably one of SA's best beerrs

If you stick around Boston, Lord Hobo gives free meals to marathon finishers on race day. Worth checking out.
