Haha same here. I started also just sending blind boxes and sometimes its a big and sometimes very much not. I also hold onto everything and never drink what I trade for...

With a few exceptions, my IP trades in L.A. have cost more in time/gas than just doing a non-local trade. At this point, I'll only do it within a few mile radius.

Interesting how most of you have had such different experiences from myself. I pretty much only do IP trades and have never had a bad experience. I find plenty of opportunities, but I do live in the Bay about 30 minutes from SARA.

The couple IP trades I have done have been with non-CA ppl and those have always gone well. Except my first one, here I come downtown with 6 bottles, only 2 of which were for the trade, the other 4 local extras and he comes down from his hotel room with 3/4 of a case.

I've done at least 4 trades through IP-Pacific, but I do admit I don't check it as often as ISO:FT. However, all of my IP experiences have been awesome, and 2 of the 4 I have already done repeat trades with. You meet some cool people along the way as well. Like @grze or @Xtent . Btw, OP, I just shot you a message for your ISO. Let me know!

I love doing IP trades with folks coming to my brewery from out of town, but i usually just make those happen because they mention it on here, and i can do it at work  i never check for them, they just fall in to line

Yup, totally 1Upd. And it wasn't even like random extras it was limited releases and sub 400bottle count bottles he extra'd me with.

Also I only had a 6 bottle carrier so some had to go into my pockets since he was using his case to take beer back to NC.

    Ah good times.

I've done a half dozen IP trades. I work at LAX so I'll fish around for someone coming into LAX for a visit, business or going through. I just did my first trade via shipping. I don't think I'll be doing much trades that way. The shipping cost hurts the wallet. Not sure what I'd want to trade via IP. I go to the source to get my bottles and growlers filled. What kind of trading are we talking about Jesse?

I don't check it as I really don't trade much anymore. Until I read some of the comments here I thought the purpose was more for out of town people visiting California. I've done a few of those over the years with really great success. (Done through Ratebeer and mostly International people coming in on vacation.)

I've had a few locals to my area now talk about IP trades but at this point I'd much rather just do bottle shares. As others have said, my time for beer nerdness is also limited with family obligations. I get to one bottle share a month and would rather share what stuff I have rotting in my basement versus flipping it for other stuff that will just rot in my basement.

I've got some Swish & Substance coming in soon. Oh yeah, and more Green Diamonds. Hold on to that '15 Huna and I'll let you know ASAP when those cans arrive. I have weekends off right now and soon will be going to fixed days off (fri/sat).

Maybe she's got something going on with Greg, and actually does own it at this point.

That seemed funnier before I typed it out...

I've done a few IP trades with people who were visiting the Bay Area prior to the forum splitting them up and haven't had any bad experiences. IP trades also makes it easier to drown people in extras without dealing with the extra weight for shipping (sorry for your checked baggage fees if applicable).
