Does any brewery still sell beer in plastic bottles? Does anybody know where I can find beer sold in plastics? Going on a fishing trip and cannot have glass or aluminum, any thoughts?

    Thanks,

Miller Lite. I have never seen any craft in plastic but that is just me.

There´s a problem with plastic and oxygen permeability that is a risk for brewers and reduces shelf life of product. I wanted to start bottling with plastic but after extensive research I deduced why nobody does it.

Miller was selling some of their low end products in plastic 40s at one point. I don't know if they still are doing it though.

I know I've seen plastic BMC bottles at sporting events, but I never noticed if they were available in stores.

I read that heineken used plastic bottles for the worldcup because of glass prohibition in the stadiums but were only good for one day, so they had to sell all the stock at each game (I don´t think that was a problem)

All the beers that are sold at the Astros games in a bottle are the heavy duty double layered plastic bottles. I have only seen them from BMC breweries. I have never seen them in a store in Texas to purchase, but in Louisiana they used to have them

You can get them at some stores.

I see lots of discarded platic 40's of Olde English and Hi-Life (I think it's Hi-Life) when I walk past ODU on the weekends.

Not exactly "craft" but I was surprised when I ordered an Anchor Steam at a concert and it was in the same type of plastic bottles as those BMC ones. This was almost 5 years ago.

Have a homebrew buddy bottle you some beer in plastic bottles. That is my recommendation!

If you can't have glass bottles or aluminum cans I would seriously consider getting a growler (if it's not too late). I use to bring cans when I went hiking/camping/fishing but after getting a stainless steel growler, I've never looked back. Sure, the beer choices can be limited depending on your area but it's a much better value (per oz) and your beer will still be cold and carbonated for around 48 hrs or more (if you have a quality flip-top growler).

That sounds weird. Wouldn't glass or aluminum be better than plastic if lost at sea? If you can why not just fill water bottles with beer if you don't mind them being opened a few hours before you drink em.

Oh wow I wish that was more common. I really wish New Glarus would put moon man in them for Country Thunder in Twin Lakes every year.

I know High Life and OE were among those they were selling in plastic, so I guess that means they still sell them.

No idea where you can get it, but Anchor Steam is sold in a plastic bottle at the Phillie's stadium.

I've seen the Anchor Steam plastic bottles before, but am 95% sure they only sell them to accounts like stadiums and concert venues. Never seen them in the store and I live just a few miles from the brewery. That being said, I would probably be drinking lots of bourbon and Coke on said fishing trip. They have plastic flasks.

Also, what kind of crazy fishing trip doesn't at least allow cans? Fishing is pretty much the most boring thing ever, if you take away alcohol, then you couldn't pay me to do it.

I know I've seen an old, squashed plastic 40-ounce bottle of Mickey's malt liquor lying on the side of the road around here before, so there's at least one that does come in a plastic bottle. From the other replies here, it sounds like it's pretty much only the malt liquor/cheap beer 40s and various beers sold at concerts/sports games that use plastic bottles; I've never seen a plastic-bottle six-pack on sale at the store, anyway.

I had anchor steam and shock top in plastic bottles by the pool in Vegas. Not sure if you can actually buy them in stores.

One time in college I emptied out a gallon of water and filled it with coors light from someone else's keg. It was nice because I made a clean getaway and swam back to my boat with the gallon of beer floating. I don't remember much after that.
