Mayflower Porter - New brewery to me, love new ticks
Wormtown Be Hoppy - I've seen this one in other hauls, looks good!
Trillium Farmhouse Ale - New to me, looking forward to trying this
Trillium Upper Case - Their 2nd Anniversary DIPA, looked SO good by the description, very psyched
Trillium Double Dry Hopped Sleeper Street - Haven't had a bad hoppy beer from them yet
Jack's Abby Barrel Aged Framinghammer - Love this beer, looking forward to having it again soon
Jack's Abby Framinghammer - Finishes out my horizontal of these, so I'll do a tasting with all 6 soon
Jack's Abby Hoponius Union - Had Calyptra recently and clearly they know what they're doing with hops

So I came home from work today and my 5 year old says " dad, you got a letter in the mail today from your doctor. It said you can't drink beer anymore..........April Fools" I hate April fools but I actually found this funny. Not a bad effort from the little guy. He had me thinking for a minute.

 

My grandma brought it in she wasn't amused. Hahahahaha

 

I feel bad for grandma…..

 

Today is my 1 year anniversary of joining BA...

 

Oh wow mine is coming up, though I know I did a good amount of lurking (including this thread...) before joining

I think this thread is what made me eventually actually register because I wanted to get in on a cool looking BIF..... little did I know what I was getting into...

 

My #VBS for tonight courtesy of @Kramerbarthomer via a LIF win. Might be one the best LIF beers I have received. Looking forward to winning his next LIF as well

 

Good things come in small packages, right?

 

I cut my teeth on the Barleywine BIF. Then I met some of the guys who would eventually end up here in the NFL Draft BIF(I sent to @whyteboy003 actually).

I lurked Hastur's BIF first, though.

 

I also saw the NHL Playoffs BIF and decided I HAD to join it this year if it happened...

I've actually seen the reverse -- I knew two places making it available yesterday, one with a 4-pack limit and one with a 2-bottle limit. I was waiting at 7:30AM for the second place to open, only to find out they wouldn't be making it available until the afternoon. I stopped after work, and they had reduced their 2 bottle limit to 1 bottle, because they only got one case.

Then I drove to the other place -- they had received 6 cases (36 4-packs). The bad news is I was the 37th person to come looking for KBS. The good news is that ONE of the other 36 had only purchased one bottle, so they had three left. So I bought their last 3 (for a total of 4), but already have destinations for 2 of them; I'm not sure if it's worth a half hour drive one way to get one more bottle (other places are releasing tomorrow or Friday), but if anybody else offers 4-packs I'll do my best to scoop up more and offer them around.

 

I've been with this one from the start and it will likely be the only one I regularly participate in. I have traded with and met plenty of people in here and had overall great experiences. It can be dangerous joining too many BIFs and spreading yourself too thin.

I lurked SWTFYW for a while and a few of those guys are in my tasting group. I wanted to hop into a more casual BIF to start off so I jumped in this one. I never thought it would turn into a long-running group, but I'm quite glad it has.

 

Tributary (Kate the Great's former brewer) and Jack's Abby both had releases today and I found myself putting KBS on the back burner for the first time in couple years. Maybe it's because I got a bottle from @UcDru , or maybe the KBS magic is finally fading for me. Not sure.

 

How did you join after me?

 

#VBS! 2014 KBS was the first beer I ever "chased" in that I found out a shop near me got one case and was doing 1 per person, and I went with a friend to get two... this was after having a sample of 2013 a few months prior.

This is still a fantastic beer, but I feel the taste doesn't quite follow the coffee heavy nose. It's very well balanced -- coffee and bourbon are subtle, and it is a very, very smooth brew, but it isn't quite what I expect from a BBA Coffee stout anymore... either my palate has just changed a bit, or this actually is a case of "last years was better" -- though I won't be one of those doomsayers... as I said, it's still fantastic.

 

Who knows how time really works?

 

I'm sure Stephen Hawking could explain it pretty well. I wonder if he drinks (or drank) beer...
