Dude, they are going to sell this beer regardless. It really doesn't matter to them. Craft beer is a unique business.

It isn't like that at all, believe me, I am the nicest, most helpful person when it comes to helping people out, when it comes to socks. I am far from a snob, or the weirdo at Walmart acting like an expert. It frustrates everybody in the business. I have friends that work in the sock business and when they have to participate in sock sales, they will get these annoying fifty year old women who ask stupid, silly questions, who really don't want a real answer, because they aren't listening. You can be at Target on a busy night and you get these people who are asking detailed questions, one after another, like they are buying a car. Its like, its socks, it isn't going to kill you or break you. And you can see the poor sales person who is trying to be patient, looked annoyed and frantic, because he has to answer a string of stupid questions. Same thing goes for store owners, they get these people that come in and ask for black knee socks with blue stripes or something rare and they don't realize "the game" that goes along with it. However, they want it, because they heard it was the coolest sock to have.

Yes all that happens. So what?
If you can't answer the same stupid questions over and over again than you shouldn't be in the service industry. I don't mean that in a condescending way.
I'm sorry that "your little thing" has blown up. It happens. You either find something new or you deal with it.
Don't let the stupid people bother you.

Yo, my BA friends...I don't want any problems! LOL. I like all of you, but I kind of understand what the OP is saying, even if my rambling was on a little different note. But, people disagree and that is cool too.

I'm not sure that I really understand the problem. Realistically, it is supply and demand for all of us and money talks. Tree House and Trillium are getting a lot of publicity on this site and in other places. People who didn't know about them before are now flocking to these destinations. I am betting that these breweries knew what they were in for before this happened. If not, they would have stayed home brewers.

Beer is for purchase and consumption and not only for those who live the closest or know the most about it. We all started off as noobs at some point, right. I guess this is the burden that comes along with enjoying beer from a brewery that makes great stuff. Don't worry, they'll make more.

And FWIW New Jersey has some amazing local breweries so we New Jerseyians know what it is like to lose out on our coveted local beers offered during special releases.

As we have all read on this site many times, these are first world problems. We should all just be happy that we have access to great local beer.

Eventually these people will learn can't see how more new people enjoying beer is a bad thing. Maybe they love a different style of beer unavailable in their area and are buying the IPA for trading.

Just stop going to breweries if the long lines of people frustrate you. There's plenty of good stuff available at a good bottle shop. I probably go to 2-3 breweries a year and I really don't feel like I'm missing much. Especially if I can get to one of the big beerfests every year.

This is what it all boils down to. This is the Elitism that's killing this Beer Sub-Culture. Sad part is, the Elitism mindset happens in each Hobby or Culture.

I went to Trillium Tuesday night and there was no line in sight. I just go to places when I know there isn't going to be a line.

sympathize with you, @akrz47 but I've been complaining about it in its various forms since early 2000s. I don't have encouragement to offer, because the places and events I used to love are forever changed. Wish I had gone to the GABF more times in the 90's, for example.

I don't think "sell out" it the right word(s). Bandwagon, maybe. Sellout is like what 10 barrel and goose island did (not getting into that). I understand that it sucks that you used to get these great beers without hardly any effort and now you may not be able to get them. Personally, I miss the days where I could go to etre or BIAB and load up on a box of loons whenever I wanted, but now those days are over. Part me is frustrated, but part of me is happy that other people are finding out about these great brews. We should be welcoming people into the craft beer world, not trying to box them out.

I think a large part of the deserved frustration comes from mules buying allotments so that 1 person can have 5-10x the prescribed amount per person.

Craft Beer is the hot trend right now. New breweries are popping up all over the place and everybody is having a craft beer after they finish their Crossfit session. What comes with anything that is trendy are lots of new people who ask lots of questions, lots of people who want to act like they know more than they do, and lots of people with nothing but time and money to buy everything associated with said trend. I saw it with golf in the late 90's. It was the cool thing to do at the time. Now golf courses are closing all the time because the trendy people have moved on to other stuff and the golf industry is returning to normal albeit with a few new loyals. Craft beer will be the same way. In 5 years the hipsters will move on to something else and unfortunately some craft breweries will not make it. But, the ones that make good product and find loyal followers will survive and those of us who truly love good beer will have lots to choose from.
