I had two crowlers that had roughly a month on them that seemed fine to me, but I also had no prior experience with the two beers. I doubt you'd really want to hold on to them much longer than that though.

 

I guess it's our area. I'm a crowler virgin myself. I know a few place down south do them, but I don't know any in my area.

 

Yeah I'm debating a stop today...based on what people are saying about yesterday I don't think it's worth it. Especially since they are pretty low on everything except C13.

 

usually you have to finish in one drink...they are tricky to open. First hold it upside down and puncture small hole in bottom edge of can (use a key or something). Put mouth over hole then open crowler and let the beer flow. Best of luck!

Be sure to shake vigorously first so the flow is good and strong.

I'd finish it in 1 sitting. No more than an hour or 2 after opening if possible. I've held crowlers sealed and refrigerated for as long as 2 month with negligible loss of quality. Of course, those weren't IPA's.

 

Yeah...trying my best to be patient and just wait until they are at 100% capacity in the new place...it's hard though!

I do two, just like a 32oz growler.

As far as how long do you have to drink it, how long do you have on any other can? Unlike a growler, despite being similar volume, there's no way of resealing it.

I'm also not a proponent of putting a growler back in the fridge for the next day, but I know plenty of people will do that, so I guess that's more personal preference.

Also agree with the comments on longevity. A crowler is a lot like a growler that is not CO2 purged, with the bonus that it's airtight. You'll eventually get some oxidation from the O2 in there, but if it was filled to the very brim it should be fairly negligible. Ideally as fresh as possible, but a month (or two, tops) should be just fine.

Holy hell packing 4 boxes at one time is exhausting.

Also ran out of bubble wrap part way through my last box!

Should be able to ship 3 today, then get more bubble wrap and ship the 4th tmrw/monday.

Good Friday made Gooder...

 

My crowler place (from which I have to sent crowlers to many of you) does a CO2 purge and caps on foam, just like a well filled growler.

I've had them from @whyteboy003 that were 6 weeks old when I got around to opening them and carb was still good.

 

Last night we had some friends over. I thought it was proper to pop the crowler with Sunny Side Up, thanks @PA-Michigander That was AMAZING.

Than, not to be out done, my buddy loves IPAs, so I popped the Yellow rose, @rspauldi sent me in the SixTercan. Now, I make it no secret, Im not an IPA, Hoppy beer kind of guy. I poured him 1st, than got a smaller glass for myself to try. After one sip, I went and got a big boy glass. HOLY CRAP, this was a great beer. While, I know enough, that most IPAs are not something I will enjoy, this beer was somehow, not as flowery or over hoppy, perfect beer. Thanks so much you guys.

 

Finally caught up in this thread! I've been sick for the past 4 days or so and I'm feeling better today

Glad you enjoyed it and you echoed my sentiments exactly. Just like you I am not an IPA fan at all, but I drink a lot of Yellow Rose. If you ever need/want more just let me know. It is fairly easy for me to get.

 

Well If there is anything you want from NJ, let know, Ill trade for yellow anytime, you want something I can get.
