Best/Worst Trade Extras

id shit myself if I got a Fou as an extra.

while not beer, @wuska sent me a Gordie Howe signed puck in a trade once. blew me away.

 

Best extra I received were bottles of Pliny. Best extra I gave out were BCBCS couple time. Worst I gave as extra? I'll let my traders answer that one

 

Best A= CCB Brewers Brunch Stout & 6 Pack of CCB Toca
Best B = 2 Different Pipeworks Abductions & KBS

Worst = Pretty happy with most free beer I get, it does suck when I get shelf beer I can get her but still a free beer. A friend of mine got a year old Zombie Dust as an extra. LOL

 

For whatever reason, whenever I trade with BA's from the East Coast, they always generously toss in some old ass shelf IPA. It rarely fails. Not sure if it is just incredibly difficult to find fresh IPAs out East, or if you folks just love your beers with faded hops and an oxidized profile, but it's not really my style.

 

Also, we need a thread like this for ninja boxes. My response above was just nicest extras from a specified trade. I get tons of porch bombs and surprise boxes that have extra awesomeness in it like Darkness and Assassin!

Worst: What had to be 6 month old Heady, one of the worst IPA's I have ever had. It was the first time I had had Heady and I didn't understand the hype until a buddy brought me some that was a week old. All breweries should stamp canning dates on their product.

 

Just got a crapload of sweet extras from a first time trader that included: victory at sea, Sunday morning, heresy, hell on wood, and terrapin wnb. Sometimes you just get lucky! No such thing as a bad extra. I will drink them all

 

Wow honestly too many to rember but examples of extras= Lost abbey Red Poppy, orval petite, 3fs darklord white wax bottle not sure what year white was, new glarus wisconsin red, supplication, damnation, troegs nugget nectar, central waters coffee stout, a le bleu (crazy), victory hop devil. Many more just cant recall this was from 07/2011 or so on BA. Seems like the the days of the past are gone. As people are now just name hunters and have no ide what goes into make a beer. No offense and im not being negative but things have changed a ton on BA and the beer world since years past.

 

That's how you view things. I see you've got a 2014 join date, what happened? There are so many absolutely awesome traders on BA that if you let the negative get to you it will. I've met some of the most selfless, giving people through BA I couldn't imagine being upset with the current trading place.

I was a member back in 2007/08 was my join date. My old account got deleted when BA changed everything. My old screen name was ams061183 id love to be able to access it but since BA got more advanced and popular i cant use that id. And i didnt mean to come off negative at all. Just seems to me as of recent meaning now a days it is all about getting the limited released beers and profiting somehow or just simply hoarding them. Just from what ive seen compared to earlier years. I have no doubt many BAers here still are very kind and genrous. Im doing my first trade since BA got the new trade thing going with tracking trades(originally trading on BA was not like that). Im sending as many Parabola 2015 as i can get my hands on along with others for FBS

 

Best I have received have been BBPT5, BCBCS, Black Note, TG Sol Hunter and a moohoochiato.

Worst is probably been just shelf beer I can get. Never anything horrible.

Best I have gave is KBS, BCBS and some 077xx cans fresh from the brewery

 

No xtra is ever bad, it's a free beer.

 

I've received tons of awesome extras all things I don't have access to. It is always appreciated.

I try to do the same and make an effort to send beers not in the receiver's distro area. I haven't sent out anything too crazy or rare, but I try to send cool stuff.

 

Best extra experience for me was a three year vertical of Abraxas.

The trade was for BA Abraxas. My tasting buddies compiled several beers to try and land this whale. When the guy trading with me heard it was for a tasting group he decided to blow our minds and throw in the Abraxas vert. Really awesome to see how that beer changes over time.

Funny part was when I opened the box, the first beer I saw was one of the regular Abraxas. I started to get upset thinking he accidently sent a regular instead of the BA version. As I kept digging through the box and pulling out more beers, needless to say, I was pretty happy with the result!!

 

Kinda funny, not a mind blowing extra but a crazy story. My brother in law - while I was not home - opened my last 2013 bcbs that I was saving to start a vertical and drank it (long story).
Literally my very next trade a few weeks later I received a 2013 bcbs as an extra and that trade partner in no way knew about the one that was inadvertantly drank. Kinda cool.

 

I feel you, the main reasons I haven't gotten into trading yet are A. Financials(being a broke 25 year old doesn't lend itself well to this hobby lol) and B. In Northeast Florida there isn't much of a Whale collection to have much tradeable beers that people are looking for. In St. Augustine there is really only a couple liquor stores and only one that has much of a craft selection, but it is still a long ass drive to places like Cigar City and Funky Buddha(I don't even make it up to Jacksonville very often), so it's difficult to grab much other than some fairly fresh Jai Alai and other CCB year round stuff, Intuition year round stuff, some Swamp Head special stuff, etc. So while there's a ton of stuff I want to try, I don't have the money or resources yet to trade for it, much less include much extra, so I am taking it slow. Hopefully once I am older and a little more established I can join some of y'all in the trading game, seems like there are a bunch of awesome people on here.

 

I like to send locals as extras, the difficult part happens when I trade with a local.

I'm most proud of sending a regular trading partner of mine a few tall boys of Lonestar, lol, it was as a joke and he got a kick out of it. Special edition camo-can.

So I got a Flora B/B as an extra in a trade where Flora B/B and CD11 were the main parts of the trade. I got a second Flora B/B. I think that tops out my previous best extra of a RR sour set that included Framboise for a Cure. Best I've sent is probably an O&P from JK. Gonna need to up my game after that Flora B/B for sure...
